Hi guys,
I've been searching my local CL for Pewter and today I got found something. They're asking $25 for what you can see in the photo. See, I've got no sense of what the items in the photo would likely weigh. Is that a good price for scrap pewter?

I try to get mine for $3/# or less if possible. But I'm a cheap, I mean thrifty type. Tin is going around $10/# and I'm sure those will weigh more than three pounds easy. Heck. some of that stuff is collectable and worth $$$ so check ebay or something before you salvage it. Just keep it out of sight of the wife in case she wants to start a collection. :(

Named pieces, with the maker's name and in good condition are often worth way more to collectors than to us.

Agreed.
I have melted a few pieces of marked pewter that was in good condition. None of it looked terribly unique. I have a pewter vest pocket flask that I have been reluctant to melt. There is a dent in it, but still leak proof.

Last week I bought a platter about the size of either of those and it netted out 23 ounces -- paid $2.95 at Goodwill. This week I bought a 9 ounce piece for $1.65.

For our purposes, 25 bux is way too much. 7 or 8, maybe. Like someone said, it's probably worth more to collectors. Mike
