I'd like to get 1400fps with a 115 gr plain base bullet cast at 1-20. What charge of Alliant 2400 would do this from a 22" barrel Browning in 32-20? I don't want to push it any fast than 1400fps max. Is the 2400 a good choice for this? Do you think I would have any problems with leading? Thank you.

PS: this will be my first experience loading cast...

About 8.0gr. give or take about 0.2gr.

There are better powders for loading this light - you won't be making enough pressure to get 2400 to burn well.

Thanks Nobade that's good to know.

I have been using 9.4 gr of 2400 in my 10" T/C Contender for several years with the Lee 113gr RNFP-GC. Its MV is 1450 fps. Very accurate and deadly on coyotes out to 150 yards or about as far as my old eyes can aim in the morning (90 yards by afternoon). Probably be about 150 fps faster in your rifle but I have never had any problems with pressure. Once i pushed those boolits to 1700 fps but accuracy was horrible in that T/C barrel and there were pressure problems.

Ive had excellent results with WW surplus slow 820 lot # 47277 in 2 -32/20 SS pistols with 10 inch barrels
with a Saeco #302 120gr rngc cast bullet
11.0gr 1379 fps
12.0gr 1630 fps
13.0gr 1745 fps

However the load i used the most was with the RCBS 165gr gc sil boolet
9.0gr of 820 @1221 fps and super accurate at 1 1/2", 10 shot groups at 100 yards from the bench with a 2x7 AO pistol scope.

Think I'll be starting with about 8grs and see what I get.
