I have a bfr and have been handloading 360g lee cast boolits. The boolits are water dropped and are fairly hard. I don't have a tester but are hard to scratch with a fingernail. I use the 45/45/10 lube and it is leading like crazy. The chambers on the cylinder seem to measure 460 with a digital caliper. My boolits cast about 459. Accuracy is all over the place at 50 yards. last load was 24g of 2400. Is the lube just not up to the task?

This is a do as I say, not as I did. Slug the barrel and measure with a good micrometer. The cylinder throats can be measured with pin gauges or small hole gauge and micrometer or slug and micrometer. Calipers take alot of practice to measure with in .001.

Your gun will have actual measurements of .4592" throats and a .458" groove. Use .459" boolits.
Get rid of the fender rust preventing lube and 2400. 2400 and Unique SUCKS canal water.
I use Felix lube and SR4759 powder. Use 30 gr of 4759 with the 360 gr boolit. Use a Fed 155 primer---NOT A RIFLE PRIMER. You can use Dacron filler and it seems to help accuracy.
I almost never clean mine, sometimes two years or more, zero leading but I do keep the cylinder hole and pin clean and apply new STP when it gets dirty. Lube the ratchet too.
Last time I shot the 360 I had a 11/32" group at 50 yards.
THIS GUN DOES NOT LIKE SOME POWDERS!
This is a 50 yard group at 50 yards with a 360 gr, top left. 50 yards with a heavier boolit, low left and 2 shots on the can at 100 with my 317 gr boolit.

Were those shots with a scope or open sights? I did a search but could not find a ready recipe for the felix lube. I will have to check the gunshop and see if they have any 4759 powder. I will also have to open up my lee mold to cast a bit larger. Maybe I should just see if any members have made a large enough batch of felix lube to sell me some. :D My super redhawk shoots dead nuts at 10 yards but all over at 100 and leads a bit to boot, so maybe a change in lube will help both guns.

44 man is right about these guns not liking some powders. I tried a few with no luck, the 4759 seems to be the ticket.

I use an Ultra Dot because I am old and some grinch stole my open sights! The dot is best for hunting.
Go to castpics for Felix. My recipe follows the original. I can't find my recipe, been looking all morning.
