View Full Version : What is this talk of swaging with a rock chucker press?

I read mention of swaging bullets up to 30 cal with a rock chucker press. Is that true? I want to make simple 224 cal bullets. If I can swage with a rockchucker, what do I need? Where do I get the dies I need. I figure I would be remiss if i didn't get the stuff I need to make jackets from spent 22LR, but to minimize costs i'll stick with OT designed bullets. I can cast cores, but I will need the mold for that purpose.

Help please!

No better time then now to make your own bullets. There are only a few choices when it comes to dies. Feel free to research and ask around a bit, everything you could possibly need to know can be found here.

Here is what I use and have to offer. It is not cheap but it is perfect!

Good shooting and Swage On!

I would really like to get into this too! What would be a rough estimate for getting into a set up including a press since I do not have a single stage press

The total kit without press is around $1200, And a cast iron Lee press is around $150. BT's dies are top of the line I just ordered the .224 full kit and I have his 45acp & 40S&W dies now.

The setup can be had for 650 through Blackmon if you can stand to wait a bit.

The $650 Blackmon offering doesn't include everything that BT Sniper offers for his complete package. Apples and oranges.

I've PM'ed BTSniper. Didn't get a reply. So I assume he's not taking new orders at this time. If it's one thing that makes a customer like me look elsewhere, and even pay more, it would be expressing an attitude of indifference.

He'll get back to you.. he is not one that would turn away business, just realize that he is a one man shop and does everything.. so he might not get right back to you within a short period of time.. You will likely get dies from him faster than the other vendors known on this forum.. Be patient.

yes. he is very helpful and willing to answer any questions you may have. because of this and the current market he is quite busy i imagine. he gets so many PMs that he even has a separate thread about it. he will take care of you. dont worry.

He's taking orders. I haven't ordered from him yet, but a real straight up guy and trying to guide me in the right direction I need. When I am ready to commit to the purchase (maybe after uncle sam or after i dump another 1/2 ton of brass) I will definitely go with his set of dies.

Dude.... Really?

He's a one man show. Do you have any idea how many emails and PM;s he gets every day, especially now that the ammunition components have dried up in the stores?

I know he's been working 6+ days a week, well into 3AM on some days, on swaging die sets. That's in addition to being a full time stay at home dad.

If you think you can do better elsewhere, so be it. (I don't think you will)

Those of you who are impatient during these times of reloading shortages, will only find yourselves banging your heads against walls needlessly.

Patience, grasshopper............

I tell ya what...I am new to swaging. I haven't swaged anything yet but have dies on order from Brian. Whenever I ask a question on here Brian is usually the first to answer it. Even though the question may have been asked before, he takes the time to help the newbies out. It is this kind of service I want to have when I get my new die set and may have questions.

Pm recieved and a friendly notification sent the next day to indicate as such. Everything is cool, I've been getting 5-10 PMs a day as well as emails, FB and phone calls. I welcome anyone and everyone that has any questions or inquires to orders to please feel free to drop me a line. I'll get back to everyone ASAP. I do believe I have been doing much better at getting quick resonses then in the past.

Thanks, no better time to make your own bullets and I'll do my best to get everyone everything they wish.
