Can anyone suggest a load for a cast bullet for a .30-06?
I am loading a 173 gr. NO GASCHECK bullet and I need a powder that will meter well.
Any suggestions?
Thanks for any help.

Is this a plain base bullet, or are you shooting a g/c design bullet and you are simply not putting a g/c on it ?

This is a non-gascheck bullet.

Red Dot will work well with PB cast as to metering well thats subjective. I do my weights on a beam scale. Start at 9 gr and work up. Depending on the rifle.

I use 2400 with a 311291 that has had the gas check shank reamed out. It weighs 171 grains with WW and 13gr of 2400 gives right around 1350fps out of a 24" barrel with no leading. Pleasant, accurate load and the 2400 meters pretty well.

I'm currently working up a load with 2400. I started out with 16 and have now moved up to 18. Will go to 22 in 1 grain increments shortly. I'm shooting at 100 yards with a 210gr 311284 Lyman bollit that is just shy of Lyman #2. So far I've been impressed with everything but the velocity so that is why I am increasing the charge. I hope to get to 1800. So far, at 100 yards the POA hasn't moved significantly with the increase in charge. I seat my boolits a little long at 3.115" in a Rem 700.
