I was wondering if anyone has tried either of the Ranch Dog 311 boolits in a Mosin Nagant? Everyone seems to love them in the lever guns, is there anything that would stop you from using them in a Nagant? Thoughts are appreciated!

That depends on how large the MN's bore is v. how large the RD mold casts. If .311" it would be too small for my MN, for example.

Good point...I was thinking from a geometry perspective. Are there any issues in these guns with this design?

well since they can't agree on a bore/groove diameter, i am sure their throat dimensions have a tendancy to vary also.
you'll just have to look at the mold and your rifle and decide if they are compatable.

Yep. For my 91/30, .314 would be the smallest mold that works well (though in fact the .314 mold I bought drops at .317 with the wheel weights I've tested in it); unfortunately, the .309 mold I bought drops at only .311; the good news is, I was planning to size those down to .301 and paper patch to .315...

Mine shoots well with .311" boolits but I have a tight Mosin, considering my buddy bought one from the same guy and his bore takes a .314".

I would slug your barrel before you buy anything.

Bullet fit, both bore and throat, trumps bullet design in most instances. Loverin and bore riding types, e.g., clones of Lyman #311467 and Ly. #314299, respectively, are excellent performers if they fit your MN and you don't push them to warp speeds. Unfortunately I haven't seen the RD mold you referred to earlier.
