WOW, looks like it doubled as a trampoline!

Good luck to them doing the same to your fix, nice work!

the square or rectangle tube idea is a better idea than flatbar. 2X2 or 1X2 in three palaces would be fine. 1/8" wall on the tube.

Better to fix it right and never have do it again. Shouldn't have had to do it in the first place, but sometimes it jsut becomes necessary.

I got the repair finished, painted and installed.

Even though Randy doesn't think it will last, I don't think I will ever have the same problem again. I think it will do fine even with two at a time.

I have a very old Wysong shear that was reportedly from the radio flyer shop and was converted to hydraulic. Shoot me a PM with email and I can send pics, if your interested.

I think your fix will probably work just fine, I tend to overbuild everything.

sorry for the Hijack Crabo:

No, Not Stalag 13, it is directly from my garage/shop. Another quality product from Buchanan Precision Machine.

The Vehicle is called the DeScrambler and it is a built from scratch Jeep Scrambler. The entire vehicle is being built by me and the only Jeep part on it is the Grill! I am "descrambling" the myth of why we can't have a Diesel engine in our Jeeps here in the US.

The engine is a Cummins 4BT Diesel, GM TH400 Auto trans, US Gear Overdrive unit, and Atlas Transfercase. High pinion Dana 60 rear, HP D44 front with ARB Airlockers, 37" Goodyear MTR tires. There is a Fiberglass body and hard top as well as many other unusual for a jeep, features.

Here's a link to the complete build at http://www.4btswaps.com/forum/showthread.php?5310-Here-s-the-Descrambler

You will have to sign up for the site to view the 400-500pics of the build. This thread has received over 60,000 views.

Here's a less complete build thread at CJ8.com. I don't think you have to sign up to see the pics on this one.
http://www.cj-8.com/forum/showthread.php?25531-The-Descrambler-Project. Lots of good pics to look at.

Congrats on the 4BT Cummins, an excellent choice, plenty of tug and good mileage.
Beyond me why more people dont use them with the availability of adapter kits

Randy, no problem with the hijack. Here is a hijack of my own since we are looking at car builds. You may have to pause occasionally to read all the info.

Kids did real nice work.. Are they available to paint my Jeep? What is the engine in that little car? Seems like a Harley engine would be a good fit.

Here's a more recent pic (yesterday) I am just about ready to install the body permanently, just a few more things to do on the rolling chassis.

The engine for the little car is a 16 hp lawn tractor engine. It will run about 40, but doesn't stop very well according to the owner.
