Is anyone using Alliant Green Dot in a 32-20 rifle? I'm looking for a powder to give me about 1200fps with a 115gr cast bullet fired from a 22" barrel and I can locate a can of Green Dot and wondered how it is working for/if guys using it. Thanks.

Long time since I loaded for a 32-20. Not farmilular with green dot but I do remember having good sucsess with W231 and 115gn cast.
Currently loading for the 25-20 and W231 works well with the 80gn boolit.
Trailboss would likely be a good for that velocity/ boolit type.
I'm sure others with more knowledge tham me will chime in soon.

Green Dot would not be (is not) my powder of choice but if it was all I could get, I'd sure use it. Per Lyman 4.5 grains will get you ~1250 with your boolit. Regards, Woody

I have used Green Dot in a 32-20 Marlin rifle. I got my best accuracy with 4.0 grains of Green Dot under the RCBS 32-115 FNGC. This is my squirrel / rabbit load. I would guess that load is somewhat slower that 1200 fps.

Thanks for the replies.

superbee it sounds like it has worked pretty well for you. It will be interesting to see what velocity it is producing.
