Here is what I would like to do to save money in buying moulds. I want to buy the Lee 102 grain .358 boolit mold to load for my wife's 642 S&W 38. That light a boolit should help with recoil as she has a lot of hand and wrist pain. My question is can I use the Lee push thru boolit sizer to get the .358 down to .356 to use in my 9MM? I have a Lee 148 grain wadcutter mould that will sometimes throw a .360 size boolit. Could a boolit that size be sized to .356 or will I have to cull out the .259 and .360 boolits before sizing to .356?? I don't have a sizer to size the larger wadcutter boolits, I just shoot what comes out of the mould. If I can get away with buying the 102 grain Lee Boolit and buy the Lee .356 push thru sizer, I will save a few bucks toward my other loading needs. What do you think?
Jack
PS She has the wrist and hand pain because of Early onset of Arthritis, NOT because of old age. I am 70, and she is much younger because she hasn't had a birthday in about 15 or 20 years!!!

If you can put it through the sizer I think you would lose your lube grooves. Chances are you can shoot the .358 out of you 9mm. Many of us here shoot .358 out of our 9mm. Heck some will only shoot .358 out of their 9mm.

You should have no problem sizing down .004 with the Lee sizer.
I size .323 8mm Mauser bullets down to .314 for my SMLE rifle with good results using Lee liquid Alox lube. The lube groove is not as vital when you use LLA as the whole bullet is coated.
Remember to tumble lube the bullets twice, BEFORE you put them through the sizing die and once afterwards. With LLA I don't have leading problems.

Talk about feeling like a idiot! The mould I really ment is the one Finster101 just posted. The 105 grain .358, NOT the 102 grain .356. But that doesn't invalidate the great advise you are giving me. Thank a Million(in todays dollars thats only 100,000 bucks).

.356 frequently does not work well in 9mms, but WILL work in some guns. I now
use .357 or .358 for all 9mm boolits, works great. The 105 SWC Lee was my
first mold ever back in the 70s and worked perfectily in a High Power at .356 diam
with air cooled wwts and NRA 50-50 over moderate charges of Bullseye and Unique.

I would be shooting the 105 in the KBI copy of the Browning Hi-power. I have not slugged the barrel to see where it's at. Then I will be loading it in 38 Spl. brass for the wife for a low recoil load, maybe some Red Dot. I think the 9mm load should have a plain base gas check if I want to put some uumph behind it. I am going to try to make a gas check maker with a drill press when I get enough money save up to get a drill press. I have the raw material, just don't have the tooling.

I use lee 105 gr 2 cav mold. I use in 380 & 9mm. Shot thousands sized at .355.. Cast boolit wit alox. One day i want a lee custom 9mm/6 cavity mold that scales out @ 110 gr but with the makarov R. nose.. Making six of those at one time is fast. And that boolit runs great in 380 or 9mm. Those custom molds are cheap though. 2 cav molds just take to long.

Ditto.

.356 does not work well in any of my 9mms.

I use .357 or .358 depending on what I have handy. I can't tell any difference in results.
