Got a barrel that came off a Mauser I'd like to mount on a rifle as yet to be determined.

I have a lead on a decently sporterized 1917 Enfield and I always liked that action. How much difference is teh threading and could this barrel be fitted to it with minimal fuss?

If not, I'll pick a '98 Mauser, shouldn't be too hard to do.

not even close. the enfield has squire threads and the mause has v threads. you would have to cut the barrel threads off and start over if you have enough barrel to do that.

Enfield has larger threads than a mauser. not enough barrel shank on a military mauser barrel to work with.

OK, that was kind of what I fugured. Might just get that old Enfield anyway sometime if the guy will deal, but it looks like a Mauser is in order. Thanks for the quick responses.

If you like the Enfield, why not just stick with 30-06 and go with it?
Aught six is dandy with cast

Or set it back and make it a 308 (check shoulder diameters before starting that one).
