What are you guys using powder wise for your 22-250 and 220 swifts with bullets made from rf casings? just looking at my options. It is not recommended to launch these over 3200 fps. Starting loads for most 50 to 55 gr are well above that. I have 2700, 8208xbr, h335, h380, re22, re15, varget, 2400, unique, retumbo, bullseye, 4227, and probably a few others. Tried calling hodgdon today but the were not there. Currently my bullet is 50.8 grains but thats an easy fix. My swifts and 22-250 have 1 in 12 and 1 in 14. just curious if anybody has been down this road. What powders and speeds are you getting good accuracy with?

It has been a while but I did load some 55 gr rimfire bullets in my Savage 22-250 with a 1 in 12 twist. I was using H4350 for around 3400 fps. They shot well and I didn't have any problems with them coming apart. Might be able to use one of the 4831 or the RL22 you list to stay under 3200 fps.

I launched mine at 3800 and had no problem. It was a 55 grain bullet with rf jacket in a 1:14 twist barrel. I think I used Varget.

I recall a member posted good results with H414 in a 22-250 and 22lr jacketed bullets.

imr 4895 has produced some very good results for me.
i backed the loads down to the 30-31 gr area. [i have gone down to 22.5 grs to mimick medium 223 loads]
the ground squirells and rocks didn't know the difference.
it also made some dang accurate groups.

Pound for pound dollar for dollar I have a CZ 550 vamint that doesn't know it could shoot benchrest matches and be respectable. My .223 is just a sporter and while it does very nice for a sporter, around 1/2 MOA with excellent loads, it is just not as accurate as my cz. I am working towards the postal shoot and would rather shoot the better rig. I have some pretty good targets with the .223 but really want to give the CZ a go. If only I had help on to that ppc when I stopped shooting competitions.:groner: Either way I will be sending a target. Guys this is really been fun. All the good times of br work without the travel.
Actually looking at another ppc at a pawn shop no less. Stohl action in a pawn shop af all things. He still wants too much for it. It's been sitting on his shelf for 18 months and while he's dropped the price a bit he still is not really ready to move it.
I am going to try a few suggestions. No 4895 in my cabinet. 8208 xbr is really close to 4895 thus my call to hodgdon yesterday. However, 335 and 8208 starts life around 3400 to 3500 in that case/ cartridge combo. I might drop the starting loads a couple grains and give it a go. Powder is pretty hard to come by these days.
