I'm trying to gleen some information for cast bullet loads utilizing the 7mm soupcan from midsouth. I haven't done any cast in my TCU (10") but it's very accurate with jacketed. Everything I've been able to find out so far is that they do not respond well to reduced loads. Has anyone have different experiences? Any pet loads or advise would greatly appreciated.

Back in my IHMSA days, I used to shoot 24 to 25g of H-322 with the Saeco 070 and 071 boolits in my 10" TC. I was in Production International Class.

try 8.0 grs of unique
I gave up on my 7 TCU with cast boolets after trying 3 moulds, just would not shoot good enough to be competative but it did shoot j bullets excellent.
the same cast bullets shot excellent from my XP-100 in 7 IHMSA and 7 mag rifle, but then both are custom built with match barrels.

15.0gr. IMR4227 goes sub-MOA out of my daughter's rifle shooting the 160gr. SAECO bore rider. Not a hot load, but plenty accurate.

Somehow I have ended up with two different "lightweight" 7mm GC molds.
135 grain RNFP and 122 grain RN GC boolits.

Using Jrs. WC820M load last weekend I was able to get one 0.75" 4 shot group at 50 out of the 122 grainer (14.6 WC820) and the rest were typically 1.5 - 2.5" at 50 yards with both booilts starting at 13.0- 14.6 grains WC 820 behind those boolits.

Even for rough testing I sure wish I had written notes on the targets, as I really don't remember the loading except on the best group.

Wish it were a the average, not the "best".

I hope to test 10B101 tomorrow with both boolits.

1.Take your soupcans and size them to fill the throat (.287 in my case)
2.Set them on top of 24 to 26 grains of H322
3.Load them long enough to fully engage the throat (O.A.L of 2.379 in my case)
4.Enjoy

The sizing diameter as well as the O.A.L may very well be different in your barrel, but I doubt by much. I had to close my pistol with a sharp snap but there was no excessive brutality needed to snap it shut. I also had good luck with several other powders such as Herco(8.5GR) and Rel10X(23GR) and the soupcan.....my 10 incher was very well behaved, hope yours is too.

In my 7mm TCU Carbine I found the soup can was more accurate at lower velocities than my Lee 130 RNGC. My best accuracy with the RNGC was around 2000 fps using 4198 while the soup can was best down around 1550-1600 fps using 5744 (sorry I don't recall the charges).
