Howdy all I just purchased a new winchester in 44 mag with a 24 inch barrel. Is there anything that can be done or needs to be done to it to maximize accuracy or opperationbefore I shoot it? This is my second lever gun my 1st being a marlin 336 in.35 remington.:castmine:

Follow the instruction maual, feild strip it, clean and lube.
The same as you would do with any new gun.

What 44magLeo said, except you might as well slug the bore while you have the gun clamped down.

Yep - slug it and adjust your sizing die accordingly for best results. Also - though it will not improve accuracy per se, get the trigger worked nice and crisp to better help you hit the target consistently.

My 94 is quite the shooter. Probably the only "moa-capable" rifle I have. Not that I have done that with it as it isn't scoped, but sometimes you can just tell. I get 1 inch groups at 50 yards with a peep sight. It's my favorite gun.

Hey I don't know why I posted it as a 94 it's a 92. I must have had 94 on the brain. I'll post some pics. Thanks again.

I like the looks of it. If the website is correct, the finish is that nice, eggshell finish. I've had several Browning/Miroku and hate the bright shiny finish so much that it's the first thing I buff off. But the metal work and metal-to-wood finish is superb.
