Does anyone have NEI #168 a 28 grain gas check or # 169 a 300 grain gas check mold? Both of these are 35 caliber rifle bullets. I would like to know the nose length of each and any shooting results with either.

Thank you

Drop NEI an email or phone them. They might be able to provide the numbers. Maybe even sell you a few sample boolits?

I've tried that from Joel, he is pretty busy and they will/do not supply samples. I think I lean towards the 300 grain mold just because............... and it will weigh more since NEI predicates their molds with linotype.

Better check the twist formula. A lot of 35 Whelen won't stabilize the 3589 at 280+gr. I think you need the OAL and bearing surface to figure it right. Felix and Backasswards are up on that.

Be careful as Bret suggests. 14 twist will handle a blunt nosed 280 grainer for sure. Sindog's gun shoots this boolit 2 inches at 200 yards at 1900 muzzle. This twist might, and should, handle a sharp pointed 300 grainer. If going to a blunt 300 grainer, you should contemplate the 12 twist. 13 twist should be sufficient, but that would definitely require a custom barrel. Might consider the next larger case than the 06 to keep that longer range velocity. 308/358 Norma is next in line? ... felix

How about a 375 H&H case necked to .358 with a re-bated rim? Lotta work for what you'd get I imagine.

the rifle is a Mod 71 in 35/348 AI and I need to measure the twist. Right now it shoots a 290 fn gc pretty good, just want another mold.
