Hello everyone

I am not sure if this is the proper area to post this so if I am in the wrong area please let me know. Currently I shoot 3.6 grains of trail-boss in reformed 32-20 shells for my Nagant revolver. I am loading a 100 grain boolit from DC 311-100-2R lee mold.

My question is is there a comparable load for other powders such as bullseye, unique, etc. I am not really liking the trail-boss powder in this specific caliber and gun. Likewise I really do not like this boolit either and any suggestion for a different boolit would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I have had a Nagant for years but have only fired factory ammo in it, so I cant help, but I am interested in what problems you are having. I also have the same mold you have and I use it in my 32 long and H&R mag. I aint sure I like it either.

or anything between bullseye and unique.
something like 3.5-4.0 of 700-x,231,bullseye,red-dot, would work well too.

I started out with trail boss in my nagant and wasn't happy either. 3.5 gr red dot in the Lee 93 gr mold shoots very well. I honed my mold out to 312 though which works ok with the 32-20 brass.

The mold just does not fill out properly for m e no matter the mixture of alloy I use. I could pour water into the mold and I still think it would not form to the mold. I think I will shop around for another mold.

The mold will fill out if it's hot enough. If you set the mold in the molten lead, will lead harden around it? If not, the mold may be too cold. Or else it's an alloy issue.

Or a venting issue. Make sure the vents are clean to let the air escape.
