I'm finally taking the plunge and starting to cast my own bullets. I'm in the process of purchasing my equipment. I'm torn between the Lee Pro 4 melting pot and the Production pot. They're about the same price, the Pro 4 has twice the lead capacity but it looks like the production pot has more clearance under the pot. Anyone have any words of wisdom on which of these would be the better choice. I won't be a high volume caster, just looking to be able to cast enough for my target practice needs, maybe a couple thousand a year.

The pro 4 only holds 10 pounds and the production pot holds 20 pounds (actually about 17 pounds). I have both. Get the 20 pounder. We all started out saying we were only going to cast enough for target practice. The 20 pounder will allow you to cast a good bit without having to refill constantly.

get the 20.
i have both, and only use the 10 for a couple of single cavity molds.
i only use the 20 for a few molds too,but have had the 20 lb pot forever.

+1 on 20 lb one. You will be able to hold temp better with bigger one.

get the 20 lb one, i could have sworn i bought the 20 lb pot and only just recently confirmed it was a 10 lb pot! when you casting 600 grain bullets, it drains real quick!

With the leakage, your 20 powder will become a 10 pounder.

A 60 pounder would be better if you find one.
