About a month ago I took the little girl to the LGS with me to browse around. She likes the dog they have in there. While in there she asked "When I get older can I have a gun like you?" "Of course" I replied. So the owner let her sit up on the counter and pick out her own little 22 and the color.

She picked a pink Cricket.

Well I wandered into the gun shop today and guess what was here?

SO I picked up the rifle and a brick of 22's. Now I just have to wrap it put a bow on
it before she gets home.

I already put in a call to our metal worker to make me some monster silhouettes.

Thats the way to do it. I have several of them in a box waiting for the grandkids to get big enough to hold em up out of the dirt.

That's cool, I was 9 years old when I got my first 22 rifle (not pink). A remington rolling block single shot, still have it.

Thank you for the kind words Dennis. I am the lucky one. She is growing up way to fast and next thing you know I'll be putting her on the school bus.

Next thing you know you'll be pacing the floor waiting for her to get home from her first date.

I still remember the first gun I ever shot, but I no longer have it.
I gave it to my grandson.

I still have my first gun, my son has his, I gave my grand children theirs. The tradition lives on.

I'm proud of ya', Dick! Ya' done good, son! You tell her you know an ol' man that 'coon hunts with a Cricket. First time I got out o' the truck with it, them boys laughed at me. When I put one between Rocky's headlights on the first shot, they quit laughin', too. By the way, did you know that Cricket makes their own scope base? You can order it yourself or have the LGS do so. Put some glass on that mini sniper rifle an' watch 'er start punchin' one ragged hole groups!

Jim, off topic but I keep hearing about your Coon dog and have only seen cat pictures. I must have missed the threads of the dog.

This is Tizzie, she has no idea (yet) what a coon is but she does show great interest in the neighbors Cat.

This is Tizzie after telling her a cat joke.

Still have my first one, a single shot Win 22. Shot my first squirrel and rabbit with it! Started my daughter at about age 7, and think the grand daughter was started about the same age.

Gave my first rifle (Remington 511) to a friends 10 year old son, with his fathers permission of course ,should have seen the smile ! It was as large as mine was when my dad gave it to me 56 years ago.

She is just as lucky to have a daddy to teach her as you are to have a daughter that wants to shoot with you! Thanks for keeping our sport alive. That should keep her busy until she's big enough to size and load boolits for you while you watch the game!
And her going on her first date won't be all bad, you can use reloading and casting as a profiling tool, if he's never heard of a 429421 or IMR 4350, he's outta there!

So when do we get pic's of first usage and group on target.

Don't forget for kids - reactive targets keep their interest up. Newer the shooter the larger the balloon and the closer the range is my motto.
