Wanting to start casting soon and wanting to keep it as inexpensive as possible. Have been looking at the Lee tumble lube dies. Are these with the tumble lube as good as others with regular lube?
Can liquid alox be used on regular cast bullets?
I am wanting to avoid having to get a sizer if I can.

Thanks for your help.

Lee size dies work well with tumble lube but the sizers don't apply lube like the lubesizers.

They are easy to open up to larger diameters as well, I think Buckshot did a how to post on it

LLA works fine on non TL boolits and I use it along with the more conventional lube, get it from Glen Larsen link at the bottom of the page and save your self some money and support a specialist enterprise.

I used to use a Lee TL .358 boolit with great effect in my .38 S&W Webleys, Enfields and Albions.

Most conventional sizers require a special punch that fits the boolit's nose and forces the boolit base first into the lube/sizer. Lee's let you push it nose first and seat the GC at the same time. No special parts, no distortion of the nose. A lot of people have "problems" with the "mess" of Lee Liquid Alox and with the need to let the lubed boolits sit overnight so the solvent evaporates. They can still be sticky, but there are ways to deal with that. First off, you can thin it with mineral spirits - it doesn't need to be as thick as it comes in the bottle, and the thinner mix dries much faster. Or, you can dust it with mica, etc. There are also two other tumble lubes that work well, Johnson's Paste Wax, and White Lightning Bicycle Chain Lube. White Lightning dries overnight and is not at all sticky, but it is kind of expensive. I have not tried JPW myself, I bought a gallon of LLA and it will likely outlast me, but while I was waiting for it I got some WL to play with and found it to work pretty well on various handgun boolits. Haven't tried it on rifle boolits yet.

I use Lee sizers and JPW on all my boolits. It works for me.

I have one and it is well worth the money:) I pan lube, then run them through the lee sizer.

Good deal.
I was thinking that only the tumble lube bullets could be used with the pan lubing.
Good to know that any bullet will work with it.
Thanks guys.

Well the Tumble Lube bullets are designed for use with Liquid Alox. And the sizer dies they sell (Lee). The conventional bullet styles (grease grooves) can be pan lubed then sized then Aloxed. I started casting and pan lubing only. I have since gotten a Lube Sizer from Lyman (4500). I spent a lot of time at the kitchen stove melting lube. I now use the lyman for my handgun bullets and the Lee sizer for the .309 slugs I cast. The Lee stuff works great It will punch them through with out a nose punch and it will seat the GCs firmly all in one operation. For initial casting endeavors and for thrift I would wholeheartedly reccomend them!
