I did some experimenting the other day and found that using 9mm cases for jackets can leave the head of the case off center and an uneven bullet base. So, I tried this method. Using a Corbin CSP-2 and a T/C nose forming die, I seated the core in the case by inserting the case base down in the die and raising the die toward the external punch holder forcing the core and case into the T/C nose forming die. This seated the core, expanded the case wall, and formed the base into a boat-tail design. I then replaced the T/C die with a 1.0 Secant Nose Forming Die and reversed the boat-tailed product and swaged it as a RN bullet with a Boat-Tail. Here are the pictures of my work.5860458603586025860658605

As soon as can load these I plan to try them out of my M1911 and see how accurate they are. Will post pictures of targets as soon as I can.

You're using the wrong raw material, and trying to stretch it too much.

A .40 S&W case is a much better starting point!!!

They fill out perfectly, and end up looking exactly like Hornady XTP's when I make 45 acp's with .40 S&W brass

Looks pretty good. I'm sure they will shoot just fine. Experimenting is always good, how would we have ever come up with half the stuff we do now :)

Swage On!

This I do as well. However, when I first started swaging bullets back in 1988 the .40 S&W hadn't been invented yet and I had an unending supply of 9mm brass from the indoor range I worked at. That's why I bought BT Snipers dies to convert .40 S&W to .45 jacketed bullets. But I still have a large quantity of 9mm that can not be reloaded, so I convert them into bullets occassionaly. If I get a .40 S&W handgun, I'll get the dies to convert the 9mm's to .40 caliber bullets.

What weight are these 45's coming out at? They look like little fat and happy bullets!

At one time I was able to make some pretty good 45 cal bullets from the 9mm brass too.

Check it out!

9mm on left, 40S&W jacket on right. It took some special tooling and a very good anneal to get the base of the 9mm up to .451 but anything is possible! SWAGE ON!
