If people like the NRA good for them. I don't want to change anyone's mind, but people should know what they are signing up for and not throw their money into something as a kneejerk reaction which they don't really understand.

Hi,
Jesus...I don't really care HOW you fight the retards trying to take our guns, but numbers count and if you wasn't born yesterday you should know that the NRA does more than anyone and has more members and that goes back to numbers, which is what makes the politicians squirm!

Just thought I would let anyone interested know about this $300 option! Thanks!

Yes on the magazine, and you do get some liability insurance for a gun related accident too included I think ??

Annual members receive $5,000 of Accidental Death and Dismemberment coverage at NO COST to you. The plan covers accidents at, or to and from, an NRA event; and accidents that occur during the use of firearms or hunting equipment while hunting. Insurance must be activated at time of renewal. (Does not include Junior membership.)

Life members receive $10,000 of Accidental Death and Dismemberment coverage at NO COST to you. The plan covers accidents at, or to and from, an NRA event; and accidents that occur during the use of firearms or hunting equipment while hunting. Insurance must be activated at time of upgrade to Life member status

Law Enforcement Officers, that are NRA members, killed in the line of duty will have $25,000 in coverage.

$2,500 of ArmsCare coverage with your NRA membership. This plan covers insured firearms, air guns, bows and arrows against theft, accidental loss, and damage. Insurance must be activated.

For purposes of insurance, NRA members must be current active members of the NRA whose name appears on the NRA membership list. Activation is required.

Life was on sale so I jumped on it, a few years later it was on sale again and I used it to up the membership level. The next time they had a sale I did it again and then again. Never kept track of the total cost but probably spread out over several years it's about the $1000 cost of today's Life Member.

The NRA has it's faults. They support a 1984 style police state. I've since droped my NRA support and went with the GOA.

Do you only vote for a politician with whom you are 100% in lock step with? There is only one possibility of doing that, run for office yourself. The NRA is no different, an organization with well over 4 million members will have differences in ideas.

As for the GOA I recommend before you send them any more money you demand an accounting in writing as to just where their money goes. I did several years ago and they flat refused to disclose their financial statements to anyone they request donations from.

As for the NRA supporting a 1984 police state . . . That's even more absurd than your post in another thread that stated that H-110 will melt your boolits.

Again, demand an accounting from the GOA as opposed to a knee jerk reaction to something which you really don't understand. The next thing you need to do is to stop spewing such incredible nonsense about things (NRA) which you clearly know nothing.

Upgraded to Patron this last year and will likely go to Benefactor this year. JFWIW - has anybody ever noticed any specific thing that GOA actually did. I've never seen anything personally. It's numbers first folks and GOA doesn't have em'.

That's a good idea. I would like to know where their money goes. I have seen a lose breakdown however.

That's even more absurd than your post in another thread that stated that H-110 will melt your boolits.

Hey Art! I'm from Mi too. The way I see it, if you participate in the system and vote then you can't complain because you voted for X politician. If I don't vote then I can complain because I didn't give my consent to be goverened by said politician.

The blue Life Member banner must be relatively new because I've been a lifer for a while and I never noticed it before. $300 for a lifetime subscription to American Rifleman is worth the cost alone. I realize the NRA isn't perfect but since they are the group that Obama chooses to demonize they must be the ones to support!

And I think this guy ^^^^ has it all wrong. You can't assert any sort of moral superiority while enabling the tyranny through inaction IMO.

Rick, How does that work? I mean, when they have a sale on life memberships, does that mean that the higher levels of membership are discounted too? Would this info be on their website, or would I have to call to find out about any discounts? My father was a Patron member, as well as a Benefactor member (I don't know which is higher, and we have certificates for both hanging on the wall in his office. If the dates weren't printed so small, I would know which was the higher one, but it's hard to see exactly which one is the later one. I wouldn't mind upping my life membership, and help out the NRA some more.

Benefactor is the highest level of four NRA life memberships.

I don't remember if it was advertised, I think it was in their mailings when there was a sale going on. Since your a life member already and there is a sale going on now if your interested in upping your membership I would call them and ask. I would bet they do it, I've never known the NRA to say no to money and no doubt they need it right now.

Let us know what they say, probably more life members interested in the same thing.

Yea I guess it makes sense when they discount from 1000 to 300 that they might not want to string that along as a payment plan ?? They have added 1/4 million members in a month, wonder how many are life members, or how many annuals upgraded to life ??

I upgraded my annual membership to life. The NRA is not perfect, WE need to do more promote responsible gun ownership, use, and bearing NOT as a conservative or liberal issue and NOT as a Republican or Democratic issue; but as rather as an American issue. As demographics of American changes, we need to get a head start on shaping the attitudes of the to-be majority citizens. When we blame the Democrats for everything, blame the liberals for everything; we only make those folks more soundly fixed in their positions. Times are changing fast and we need to expand our demographic of Constitutional preservation/restoration minded folk; not push folks further the other way.

Well, I just upgraded from a life membership to another higher one (I don't recall what it was called, but it normally goes for $1000.00 ), they had it on sale for $250.00 so they basically made me an offer I couldn't refuse :) It was either benefactor, or something like that. Of course they took my money, and sent me an email thanking me for upgrading, but didn't mention what I had upgraded to! I guess when I get the new membership card in the mail I'll know for sure. It might even have been the highest membership available, as it was the only offer that came up when I clicked on the button to upgrade my membership. I actually thought that was kind of strange not to offer different levels, but heck, any way you cut it, a $1000.00 membership for $250.00 isn't something to be missed. Of course silly me, now I have to decide what monthly bill I won't be paying this month! :(

Edit: There's Life, Patron, Endowment, and Benefactor. I did some digging in the history of my browser, and the upgrade that I did was for an Endowment life membership, so I guess I still have one more step to go.

Does anybody have a link to an official NRA site promoting this offer? I've been surfing the net for it and can't find anything besides phone number from the OP listed on various forums. That number isn't on any of my NRA documentation.

I just want to make sure this is legit and not a money funnel into Sarah Brady's wallet.

I don't think that's correct Mike. The levels of life membership are:

1> Life
2> Endowment
3> Patron
4> Benefactor

If you were a Life member and upgraded you should now be an Endowment Member. If you were already an Endowment member then you would now be a Patron member with one step to go.

I thought this was correct but I called the NRA membership services and asked just to be sure. Anyway, thanks for helping support the NRA.

I listened to Tom Grisim's pod cast on the way home from the SHOT Show last night (Friday 1/18) and found out about this deal. I will be calling and upping my membership today. It goes until end of Jan, and I have been waiting to do this for way too long. I should have done it back in the 70's when it was $500 but I put it off.

Not putting it off any more. The fight is NOW!

And as far as not joining the NRA because of some imagined difference you have with them,, you need to get over it! You probably stayed home and didn't vote for Romney either because he is too rich or some other imagined problem you had, just to protest! Or you voted for Ron Paul or someone else.

Here's the deal if you don't stand behind the candidate or the leader of our side,,,then you effectively vote for, or support the other side. Simple as that. Nobody gives a ship about your protests. Quit being a fool!

IMO every gun sold should have a membership attached to it and I am lobbying hard to make this happen. If you are not a member, you are not with US! And if you are not with us,,, you're against us!

The only things that matters in politics is Money and Numbers. The NRA is best equipped to deal with Washington.

Get on board or shut up and go hide!

Ask me how I really feel?

I had joined on the time pay plan $25 per quarter for $600, called NRA # that I had and was informed that they needed me to call them back next Tuesday to speak with the department that can handle that change, and they did not indicate that the transistion from the $600 long term payment plan to the one payment $300 plan would be an issue. I am supposed to get credit for payments already made and I need to pay the difference up to the $300 which is not an issue.

FYI
Also just a heads up, my brother has been a life member since late sixties and recently his magazines stopped coming. When I inquired during my call today, they informed me that they have stopped calling life members every 5-7 years and started inserting a call back card in the magazine. If they don't get a response to the card, then they stop sending the magazines. He has missed at least 3 magazines and the lady reinstated his subscription and will provide back issues.

Also, if you pay by card take the time to review your card statement, they did not have a record of one of my recent payments and I will have to provide the payment date from my statement when I call next week.

The impression that I got from speaking with her is that they have really been super busy processing new memberships and handling the blow by due to the latest administrations gun grab proposals etc.

I took advantage of the 300 dollar life membership today, too. I don't have anything about any progun organization but everyone with any interest in the second amendment should support the NRA. If you want to join any other group do it, but help protect our gun rights by supporting the NRA first. and don't be badmouthing the one effective counter balance we have for the liberals. Ask washington DC and Chicago if they think the NRA is effective.

Tom Gresham of GunTalk Radio e-mailed me about SLOW CREDIT CARD CHARGES, IT'S OK GUYS/GALS.

THE NRA has been very slow to COMPUTERIZE ITS OPERATION.

These $300 Life Deals were taken down by hand, not computer entry.

I'm glad to hear that the NRA IS OVERWHELMED WITH NEW AND UPGRADING MEMBERSHIPS.

GIVE THEM A LITTLE TIME, WE HAD A HOLIDAY TOO.

MY C.C. WAS JUST CHARGED 1/23/13, I SIGNED UP SUNDAY JAN 13TH.

Everything was cruising along well until age 64 then the reality of health issues settled in, life membership didnt seem to be a bargain at that point. Today at discount , we move on to life membership, better chance to enjoy it. Good to see all the new blue bannres sprouting below the names. I signed my wife and daughter up for annual memberships a month ago. My son has his own. I think its been said this may be the biggest challenge weve seen in some time. Id like to suggest a new term for the legisative changes we want--"Violence Control". Let the antis run around bleating "gun control", perhaps this will show their true agenda. Sorry for the tangent. Hhmmm . . . I had heard January but ya know how rumors go. Best bet for savingprivateyang would be to simply call and ask.

Hi,
Wow! No wonder we are being hammered by the left! I guess even the majority here don't care either! Sort of depressing actually! Thanks to the ones who have taken advantage of this. Something to remember is that ignorance can be cured but there is no cure for stupid! If you people want idiots telling you what you can and cannot do or what you can own or buy with your own money, just sit there and do what you have been doing-NOTHING!

When this country is done I hope somebody takes down the flag and turns out the light!

I upgraded..... Thanks for the heads up. I also donated money. Obama and his current pals are the most dangerous bunch of demagogues this country has seen in a long time. Do not underestimate them. Unite around the NRA and give! Also....write to your representatives!

Well! I finally decided to sign up. Even at $300 for life, at my age(70) some of that is a donation. I've heard most of the gripes about the NRA and in IMHO they are straining at gnats.

I just signed up this morning and they have charged my credit card so I am going to change my NRA logo from "Member" to "Life Member". I've always envied those who were able to afford a life membership.

Possibly because there was no proper request for it. Considering how you asked, I don't see it happening soon. We do not, and can not see every post. If a thread is not submitted to staff for consideration, it is possible the particular thread will not be read. If someone decides to rant at the staff on the board, I personally have no interest in taking action.

Hi,
Sorry,I'm not in a real good mood right now and it gets worse everyday that I see people here doing so little to fight this insanity! I was a member to this site before it became Cast Boolits . I thought Moderaters made it a point to keep up with what is going on,that's why they are Moderators!!! Rant off!

Yeah, we're over paid, too. There are close to 2000 posts some days. How many do you read? Believe it or not, we have things we do behind the scenes to keep things running, too. Never assume we will see everything.

In post #82 I indicated that the NRA had charged my credit card for the Life Membership. I just got a call from the NRA wanting me to extend my 5 yr membership. I guess they are so overwhelmed that they can't keep up with things. I'm not going to remove the Life Member logo since I have signed up but they have NOT charged my credit card. I hope they catch up soon. Or maybe I hope they don't catch up and continue to be inundated with people signing up for life.

It's only been 3 days, someone in one of these threads posted that it was taking about 10 days for them get it posted. Dunno if that's accurate but . . . . .

I upgraded to Life Status on 1/16/13 and then started doing daily checks on my membership status on the NRA site. My membership status was finally updated to Life today so it would appear that the delay between paying for the upgrade and your change in membership status being registered on the NRA site is going to be somewhere in the neighborhood of two weeks, +/- two or three days. However, it could be longer depending on how many people took advantage of this great deal toward the end of the month. Is this about the delay that others are experiencing?

This $300 membership offer is going to stay open till the end of february so for a lifetime membership and a chance to help protect your right to buy your favorite $1000 firearms, not a bad deal. They have had over 6000 people sign up sofar.

Anybody know how long it takes to get the member information, I let my membership lapse for a couple years until I saw this post. My card is charged and I am getting emails so it went thru, I need the membership number for a local rifle club i am joining.

Just checked on my application for Life Membership. Applied 2 weeks ago and no change in status yet. Credit card not charged either. They said wait another week to 10 days. Beginning to feel a little guilty about adding NRA Life Member to my avatar.

My upgrade to life packet took 3 weeks, I upgraded on January 18th received the packet yesterday February 7th. Don't feel bad about your avatar; just give it another week or so.

Just checked on my status again. Now they are saying 8 wks. I needed to change my address anyway so hopefully by summer they will have caught up.

I don't recommend calling right now. You will have to listen to a spiel about donating to a program for security in schools. As if a school is going to appeal to the NRA for help. Maybe a private school but no public school administrator is going to do anything contrary to political correctness. The liberal board would have his/her head.

Been thinking about doing this for a while. I have been a member paying annual dues now for 20 years. $300 was paid for years ago. They may not be perfect but they are dang sure better then having nothing. Go upgrade now.

After posting the above, I got to thinking that I had not actually inquired about my specific application. I called back and explained that I needed to make sure that my application was actually in their system. After being transferred around, I finally spoke to a lady that checked and found NO record of it. She proceeded to take my information again. We will see how this plays out.

I may find that I'm not a Life Member after all. They obviously were not prepared for the rush of applications.

If you called in your application, I would recommend that you check up on it before it is too late to take advantage of the $300 fee.

The only notification I got from NRA about my life membership is that the copy of my RIFLEMAN listed me as LIFE on the lable, cool beans.

You can go here: https://www.nramemberservices.org/Home.aspx to verify your member status. Other than "LIFE" suddenly appearing on my American Rifleman label, that is the only "notification" that I received.
