There's a 450 Marlin w/ some brass, ammo and dies listed here locally on Armslist. The guy started at $800 but has now dropped to $750. My gut feeling is that he's still too high for a gun chambered for a cartridge in serious danger of becoming obsolete.

What would be a reasonable offer on this?

Not a big fan of that cartridge, if you're wanting a shooter and/or a hunting rifle you're better off w/ a 45-70 over the 450 Marlin. I think the seller feels his rifle has some collector value, I wouldn't know about that. I do like the ported bbl tho.

The ported ones seem to command a premium over the non ported ones??, It's a real Marlin, not a Remlin!, with the extras it's still seems to be about $50 to high to me?, I gave $550 for my 1895M (non ported) in March of '12, it was 95+%.

When the 1895M first hit the market in 2000 or 2001 I got one NIB for $350 I believe . I sold a Model 1895MR which is the 450 Marlin in the same configuration as the Marlin 1895 and I got $750 for that one 4 years ago but then they only made about 1500 of that model .
