I have some lead weights that came out of old Neptune water meters 4 & 6". Does anyone know anything about these? Alloy hardness are they any good for casting?

Melt them down by thenselves and see how well the boolits look. Give it a try. The first test I do is to try scratching it with a fingernail. If you can it is on the softer side.

I will try out anything that will melt at temp lower than zinc. If it makes good boolits that is what counts. Some searching will get you information on figureing out aprox hardness.

Lot of info on this site. Just noticed your new. Welcome to the site.
