Installing gas checks

Is there a special tool needed to install gas checks on boolits for star sizers?

no.
just press them on and push them through like a lee die.
some of my boolit/check combo's do better if i push them through base first then flip them over and lube them.
most are a simple set/snap the check on and push it in the lube/size die.

What about on a Lyman 450 is it the same procedure?

Lathsmith makes special GC punches.

lyman are base first.
they airc have a tool for installing g/c's separatly.
but there is no reason why you can't put them on and size/lube them.
unless they are a mismatch then you'd want the seater.

the punches zomby is talking about are hollow ground.
they are another tool, i have some for some applications but rarely use the hollow ones.
