If someone with quickload has the time, could you run some numbers for me? I have two loads with an approx 70gr hardcast boolit. 26.7gr of DP85, which burns about the same rate as Ramshot's Hunter, and 26gr of IMR4007SSC. Both out of a 24" barrel. Approximate velocity and pressure levels. Thanks! My best guess would be around 2600fps for the DP85, closer to 2700 for the 4007SSC.

Are we laking about the 6x45mm built on the .223 case or something bigger?

I used the bullet length for the .243, 70, Hornady SP #2410. QL needs a bullet length to calculate seating depth and net case capacity.

4007SCC. The result was only 2571 fps and the % burned was only 75.94%. Ballistic efficiency 21%.

Ramshot Hunter. 2291 fps and 66.9% burn. Ballistic efficiency 16.9 %. Both of these are very disappointing. I think you need a much faster powder perhaps H4198, H4227 or similar.

Yes, the .223 necked up. I've got better groups using faster powders at around 2000fps, but then I loose function in the rifle length gas system. Just trying to find a good speed with enough accuracy for 200yd max coyote shooting, and function. The Hunter load wasn't bad, but not good for function because of little balls that don't light! I can use it with the gas system off though. I appreciate your input very much. Going down 1.2gr to 25.5gr with the DP85 (Hunter) and down 2gr with the 4007SSC to 23gr. The 4007 might cycle the action at that charge level, and accuracy should improve a bit, it certainly lights better.

Hmm, I was getting 2450fps with a heavier bullet when using the Hunter load. That was chronographed. Wish I had one now.

may I suggest H322 or H335 they work well with the 25-223 and 80-90gr bullets.

This was the last time out for me and my 6x45 AR-15. It's now living in Wyoming where it might be used for a wide variety of critters. As indicated above, I lowered the charge of both powders a bit. I got some decent results with the 25.5 DP-85 load, and the 23gr IMR4007 load also improved, but is still larger than the DP group. Just a little more reduction. My rest wasn't the best in the world, and when I got home I noted that recoil had loosened the front scope mount screw just a tad. I enjoyed working with the little cartridge! It'll be replaced with a 6mm/.303 Brit Ackley improved wildcat in an 1896 Krag action using a Remington 700 6mm take off barrel. Capacity should be about the same as the .243Win with starting loads for the .243 being max loads for the Krag action. Big boost in capacity as compared to the 6x45! Might be a good cartridge for a large dose of 860!

Thanks for that data. I'm researching a possible 20" bbl for my AR.
