I have a 4 cavity Lyman 452460 mold. The problem I have is that the sprue plate hits the bottom of my pot when I cast the last. It is the end that turns up for opening the sprue plate. Can that be modified so it does not turn up as much. Make it straight? The pot I use is an older saeco bottom pour. Hope I explained it clear enough. Thanks for any help.

turn the mold around, within the handles, so the sprue lever is pointed towards you.

That is absolutely right, that way when the sprue plate comes around it you accidentally tap it a bit hard it doesn't come around against your hand(gloved or not)

That is the way it was but I turned it the other way because it was easier for me to work with being a lefty.

Try using a ladel. If the pot's under the mould, no sprue plate contact.
