Gentlemen: I am considering casting some 45 colt loads with a Magma mold 45-235-RNFP Flat base.
Would there be anyone who has some experience using this bullet?
I have never gone any lighter than 250 grains with my bullets but the design of this bullet should be good.
Also load data for 235 cast bullets is getting a little thin. I primarily use Red Dot; IMR 4227; Power Pistol: and 3N37 powders in my Colt. If anyone has any load data with 235 grain boolits and these powders it would be most appreciative.

VihtaV manual have some 45 Colt load for CAS for your 3N37..its for 200 and 250 grain bullet..
i try 45 Colt with 200 up to 255 grain with N320 and some domestic made shotgun powder (only available here ) and for me only thing that works good was 255 grain bullet.Lots of unburned powder with lighter bullets.Dont have any other powder ..
Hope these can help.

Don't have any of those powders. I shot a lot of lee 452-228-1R ahead of ( I believe ) 5 gr of clays.
The 45 colt is very flexible as I'm sure you know. The red dot would be my first choice. Mine has fixed sights so I just load until it shoots to the sights, if possible.

I had some 238 grain 452-423s that I loaded over 6.0 grains of Red Dot. Very accurate and mild, but shot low in my Vaquero. Red Dot and Unique are my favorite powders for the Big 45 Colt case, though WW-231 works pretty well also.
For a 230 grain boolit, Lyman lists 5.6 grains of Red Dot to start, with a top end of 7.2 grains.

i have that 225rnfp mold from magma also i just use 230gr data where available,
or just start with 250gr data.
the red dot will work most excellently.
anyway it feeds in my leverguns 100% and is awesome in my 625.
it's very accurate in my usfa's,and in my b-hawk convertable.

keep the load levels to your guns capability's....

Many thanks for the reply. I was wondering if this mold was an unwanted orphan. Is it a 225 grain boolit though or a 235 grain? The fellow at the store told me it was 235 with a plain base and when I went to Magma site on the internet its showing 235 under the plain base molds.
I'm trying to get to one mold in the 45 colt for plinking and hunting and different brass headstamps for powder in loads.
Mind you I should pick up a few fps and energy with this tad lighter bullet that I could just live with Red Dot loads.

Any of the loads you use for 250 grain boolits will work for the 235 grainers...Ray

235 sounds wrong.[my most recent magma chart doesn't show a 235]
if it is, that's awesome i'd have probably worn out the mold by now.
they do show the same mold in 200-225-250 so it could be a short run 250 or something. [shrug]
either way enjoy it.

I'm hoping this link I paste works : http://www.magmaengineering.com/PDF/FBMar092011b.pdf
Anyway under Magma Engineering click on Molds then plain base and on the chart bottom left side 45 colt ; third from left is this RNFP pb bullet in 3 bullet weights with 235 grains being the heaviest
