Any recommendations for a HK G3 carry sling?

They used to have two different slings for the G3. One was leather and the other was a woven sling somewhat similar in construction to the garand. Both were only about 7/8th of an inch wide. The leather ones show up from time to time. I think the limiting factor would be the attachment points on the G3 due to the smaller width of the sling. Might want to locate one for a moisin and see if that works. Frank

I've just got a cobbled up sling on mine at the time. Didn't know if there was a real whiz bang set up for easy carry. I'm going to check at the gun show this weekend. Figured it may be the only accessory not sold out!

Ric--

The OEM sling arrangement sold with my HK-91 (c. 1989) was green woven cloth, about 7/8" wide, and formed a carrying rig that semi-supported the rifle in a hands-free port-arms position. The forearm clip released as the wearer began to point the rifle toward a target, and with the forearm unclipped the rifle could "hang" from the shoulder toward the ground also, though a bit heavy and awkward so held. This system worked better with the HK MP-5 SMGs. owing to their lesser weight.

I was surprised that I saw NO suitable slings at the gun show this weekend!

If you are into the single point thing, somebody makes a replacement stock retaining pin that has an eye on it so you can clip the sling to it.

If you picked up the clips you could make yours out of any piece of nylon, leather, etc.

I did exactly that.
