Lyman 280642 vs. RCBS .270-150-SP
Has anyone shot or otherwise had experience with these two cast boolits? Both are gas checked 150gr cast bullets designed to be shot by the .270Win. What are your opinions of these? I am going to a gun show in Denver (where the .270 is king for elk, antelope, Rocky Mtn. Sheep, mountain goats, etc.). This means that, unlike much of the rest of the country, where .30-06 dominates the rifle reloading scene, I'll be able to find a bunch of stuff for my .270.

Because this is the first time I'll be reloading on my own (I reloaded for years with my father, but never used cast in my rifle), I thought I'd just use XMP-5744/AA-5744. I heard it was a good load for a cast rifle boolit, and many here seem to have had success with 20gr of it when using the 150gr cast .270 boolits. While it looks to be a little more expensive than the other options, the success rates from posts I've read here seem to be universally higher.

I sometimes shoot the 280642 in a Model 700...
(No experience with the RCBS 270-150-SP)

I do use 20 grains of XMP-5744 for velocity in the neighborhood of 1700+ fps...

Not very fast for a 270 Winchester...

Might want to read the following thread:
