take it, it will shoot a wide varity of ways to load the 45/70. i use 37grains of reloader 7 in mine and a 500 grain paper patched bullet that was .451 diam and wrapped with 2 wraps of number 9 paper. i throated it for 3/8th of a inch in the back of the barrel ( throating is takeing out the lands with a special reamer) that way i can place the bullet some what up in to the barrel when i chamber the round. mine is very very accurate. you can load the 45/70 many diff. ways as is posted all over this site. they are all right if they shoot well. i would never sell mine and may look for another one. that is a good price, if it is tight and the bore is good.

There are only two things i did to mine. I added a lace on pad and replaced the WG sight with a foolproof. I love it shoots as good as i can and a pleasure to carry.
Go for it it is a good price.

I picked it up. Now to find different front sight inserts. I also think a lace-up butt pad is in order. Pictures later. That curved steel butt plate looks wicked.

The curved butt goes out on the ball of your shoulder, pull it in tight, it hurts.

Check out Lee Shaver's set of sight inserts. They are much nicer then the Lyman ones. Good buy BTW.

Nice looking rifle! I like that trapdoor too, sounds like that was a pretty good buy...

BTW Mark, I accepted that job up north. They made me an offer I couldn't turn down, so we're in the middle of packing, looking for a house there, looking for someone to rent our house to here, etc. I hope to get a little time to go out and shoot between all the work, but we'll be loading the truck in less than two weeks and we have almost a decade worth of stuff to pack. Are you interested in getting out to shoot a little if I can escape from here for a couple hours?

Hopefully the weather will cooperate. Unfortunately we have to go where the money and health insurance is.
