So that was pretty easy. I have to say much easier than it seemed when reading about all the details.

230 gr bullets to load 45 ACP. I had just got a 1911 and had dreaded paying for bullets to reload for plinking. This was much cheaper, considering I had paid $.20 a lb for the lead (and the wheel weights which is what I cast these out of).

So I'll get a mold Lyman 314299 which is what I shoot through my Krag (but have bought bullets over the counter before), and then a mold for the bullets I run through my Vetterli.

Very satisfying return for two hours worth of effort.

Good job - looks like you paid attention to all the reading. Now get out there and shoot those things....

Thanks... The first several were messed up... Due to mold being too cold and lead cooling too fast I figured. Once the mold got up to temp they came out great. Nice to be able to just drop the bad ones back in the pot for a redo.

My 6 yr old daughter (my reloading partner) was impressed. She said I could open up a store. 6 yr olds are great for boosting your confidence!

Can't see the casts that well, but is that Lees mold 452-228-1R?
If so, I've had a lot of trouble getting them to cycle thru my 1911's due to the nose profile.
Otherwise, welcome to the addiction

It's 452-230-2R two-ogive radius

Honestly it was before Christmas that I ordered it, so I don't recall if I researched whether folks had good experience or not, or if I just went for that size and weight.
