The early standard ones were 2 5/8 and 2 7/8. Gunmakers back when would chamber what a customer wanted. I have a tinned brass that is a Winchester 3 7/8 that was probably special ordered for a well heeled pigeon shooter in the late 1800's or early 1900's. Strong Cannon custom made various length signal brass, and the military had pieces up to 8" if I recall right.

I have paper one here used for starting aircraft engines
that is 6" long. Loaded like a big blank.

RMC can make them any length you might want- ED

I just received my 2.5" 16 ga brass shotshells from RMC. They are of the best quality and I highly recommend them. They are just plain pretty. They are a joy to shoot and reload. I'm havin a blast in more ways than one!

OK, I just bought some 10 ga Brass shot shells. That was a bite.
I bought 20 shells, a lot of the types of wades.
For none hunting, for fun and personal protection, what powder charge and shot would you guys recommend?

I have a late 1890's model l887 Winchester lever action shotgun with the barrel cut down to about 24".

I was told this Shotgun is a "brush cutter" and an "alley cleaner".

Ya'll come back!
