Hi guys,I'm going to start reloading for my Winchester Ranger 30-30. I have been looking at the lee mold. C309-170-F. Will this work in the gun if I crimp it where the crimp groove is. I don't want to buy one and find out it's to long..
Thank Billy.

Get the Lee FCD and adjust COL to whatever is needed.

That is exactly what I have done. I crimp in the groove for my 94 AE Trapper. The Lee boolit suffers in the meplat department but it is the only 30-30 mold I have. I keep the alloy very mild - BHN around 15 and hope to get a bit of expansion.

I've got both the Lee 150 and 170 gr versions and they feed through my 94 crimped in the crimp groove just fine. I am also getting good results with Saeco 315. My Lee 150 is near the end of its life, probably less than 5k boolits from the little 2 cavity. Its shedding its alignment pins. The 170 isn't far behind, hence the Saeco 315.

the c309-170rf boolit wasn't made for the marlin , if you wan that you need a ranch dog mold i think it was however definitely intended to be a good universal 30-30 boolit it feeds very well right at the crip groove in the 336 marlin

i use a set of lee dies just the 2 die set without the factory crimp , i have had no problem with this boolit going deeper or pulling or of the case , neck tension is fine ,

i may at some point pick up a factory crimp die , as i have an empty hole in my turret when loading these , and i wonder about the added neck tension on accuracy but since up till last night when i put the new target sights on my marlin the rounds shot as good as i could see with the factory sights

i will have to see what i can do with better sights

I like the Lyman 311041 in the 30-30

I have this mold and a pre-64 1894. I crimp in the groove and it chambers fine. I am using ACWW with roughly 2%tin, added in the form of pewter.

I've been shooting the LEE DC MOLD C312-185-1R (for .303 brit) out of my Marlin and Mod. 94 30-30s with great accuracy. I have to seat the gas check below the neck, but it doesn't seem to hurt anything. It's icing on the cake because it also shoot well out of my Argie Mausers and SMLE.

The 31141/311041 is "THE" boolit for the 30-30.

Just got my NOE group buy 311041 yesterday and I'm looking forward to testing that concept for myself. Have a nice new RD mould in a bit lighter boolit that I'm looking forward to wringing out as well. RCBS and Lee seem to have a very popular 170 gr offering as well. Tough choices, probably all good.
