I have a question about the 12 g hulls I got from Ballistic products. These hulls are new,Federal, primed and white 2 3/4 in shells, basewad appears to be about .225 thick plastic. Looking on Hogdons site to match up a good load for buckshot 00, I cant decide which hull to choose from on the drop down list. I cut open a shell and it seems to be a plastic base wad, with a Fed 209 primer. here is the link to the shell i have: http://www.ballisticproducts.com/Federal-12ga-2-3_4-new_primed_clear-hull-100_bag/productinfo/0621275/
I am also looking for a decent all around wad/powder (I already have 12s4), and (HS6) powder. I see unique, clays, titewad used abit on this forum. Something that can be used both for Buck,Ball and slug. Thanks

I believe they are called Fed High Volume

I got 2 bunchs that ( from memory ) are like those
The ones I got were from Fed Preium bucksot and the others were 2 3/4" steel shot hulls

Allaint used to have data online for them
If not , Give them a call or Email for load data

Hello QwikSting, I have used those Federal hulls with Fed.209A magnum primers a lot in my load testing, they are good strong hulls and do not easily show pressure sign's as the hull brass parts are well made.
I usually use Fiocchi hulls for load developing and then switch over to Federal hull once I achieve the desired velocity and load.

Use caution and play it safe, trust but verify!

Are these considered straight wall shells, and plastic base wad? I am new to shotshell reloading. Trying to find a good combo powder/wad/hull. Although i have about 400 of these hulls, never fired and primed, I prefer to use these as I learn.

Hello QwikSting, the Federal hull's are straight walled hull's with magnum primer's.
Use loads asking for Fed. 209A magnum primer's or reduce the charge by 2.5 to 3 gr to be on the safe side!
Most wads will let the powder seep through like this

you can always use 1 inch square paper on top of the powder to stop that!
