Title says it all. Do you stick with one out of simplicity or use many based on desired performance characteristics?

So far I have had good luck with red carnuba and am planning to stick with it.

Speed Green, Ben's Red, and Recluse 45/45/10 cover my bases, these days, now if the poll was for how many HAVE you used, versus do you use, the count would be much higher.

Well, the question was how many used on a regular basis and not how many have you used, tried or cooked up yourself so . . . One. LBT Blue. In all the years I've used it I have never had an issue I could trace back as a lube problem.

While that is my main, go to lube I do have in the second Star right now home made Speed green. After all Veral can't live forever and I plan to so I need to cover my hieny.

I've got way too many lubes laying around.
I've cooked some myself,
got some samples from other members,
and bought some from every vendor in our house.

I really got to consider narrowing my field.
I really like the Lotak (soft) for small rifle calibers (below 30 cal.).
I'm torn between randyrat's Tak #1 and Carnuba Red for Magnum pistol.
I use whatever is handy for low-power revolver pistol...and I have alot laying around.
I haven't shot enough larger caliber rifle (above 30 cal.) to come to any conclusion there,
downloaded rifle gets the 45-45-10 TL
Plinking semi-auto pistol also get 45-45-10 TL

Oh, I got some 6.5 boolits for my Jap 38 that are sized and lubed with fryboy's FWWFL ??? that needs some testing ;)

ummm gee .... i have a few sizers ( 7-8 ?? )...all loaded with different lubes and a couple of lubes i use that never see a lubrasizer ( my version of pearl lube + and recluse's recipe as well as my soon to be mourned rooster jacket ) worse ...i'm a lube groove junky , the aspect of making it myself/mad scientist is very appealing to me and i have yet to re-create my holy grail , of the many lubes in my sizers ( currently ) only one will not be refilled when gone , still worse there are several brands of lube that i havent tried that i long to ( did i mention i'm a lube groove junky ? lolz ) i also tend to test lube against each other which while making for a bit of shooting isnt a very hurried proposition as true testing needs at least a year in my varying climatic extremes to even honestly test ,one thing is certain however and that is lube that doesnt fulfill my hopes makes great flux and i doubt if i'll ever run out of that :P in fact i should start mixing it with sawdust and become a vendor sponsor ( but of the many things i am a salesman isnt one of them and i can admit that ) i've found that for less demanding applications it's really hard to note much difference yet i also realize we all have our likes and dislikes , many like/love alox lubes for but one example yet i detest the smell even tho the majority of alox lubes work well , i didnt like LLA just for that reason yet recluse's recipe cut that aroma down to a more manageable level ,my final conclusion is that if you like it and it works for you - great !! i be happy for you !! if not ...well start a thread and and we can discuss it and other options

jon , try that FWWFL with some lil bitty boolits that dont seem to have very big lube grooves ! ( like the 225-415 ) i've ran it to max velocities with no problems ( ummm everything else being right of course ) groups tend to open up a bit when you pass the sweet spot , and so far even in my 26" bbl it seems to lube enough all the way down the pipe ( not much of a lube star on that one tho lolz )

purty sure ... the original was listed as FWFL ( felix world famous lube ) the FWWFL is an adaptation by wilgen , not sure off the top of my head if the original had carnuba and lanolin but my version does and wilgen's assuredly has lanolin , on a brite note felix himself has stated that the recipe can be switched up a bit and still work great ( one case in point is different oils such as jojoba etc ) i havent tried too many variations of it besides the original and the FWWFL version but they've all seemed to work great ( and the odor isnt bad - a big plus for me )

ahh 6.5 ... i finally got a few gas checks and only a sizing die stands in my way atm ( but i kind of have a few other more important to me projects going on :P )

I've been the tumble lube straight Alox route then onto the 45-45-10 Recluse TL'in followed by several commercial lubes. Then White Label Lubes came next (BAC's my favorite) and now onto the homemade. My go to and has been good to me in the cold and hot of Kansas extremes is a mixture of Lucas White Lithium Grease, Beeswax and a touch of STP. Soft, yet firm and works for low pressure handgunning and on up to the high end 454 Casull rounds and upper end 375 H&H loads. I've tried to cover the temp swings and application needs and I think I'm there or close to it.

Lars White label products work for me. Carnauba Red for the .44 mags and Lars 50/50 for the rifles. I've got 4 lubers and have 2 ea dedicated to each lube.
I've used lots of different lubes down thru the years and there are some great ones out there such as WFFL(World Famous Felix Lube), but I just don't have the desire to make my own. I just hate sticky hands and even hate to re-charge my lubers!

-One lyman 45 with pretty purple colored MML- I do 95% of what I do with this lube...this includes loads from 1k to 3K

-One lyman 45 with turd brown colored MML modded for warm weather...have not pulled the handle on this press for over 6months.

-Lee liquid earwax+ mica for low velocity plinkers and catsneeze loads

-Soon I will have a Star sizer up and running and it too will use MML...have the press and it is loaded with MML...just waiting on some cash for an order to Lathesmith for some dies.

I have tried over 3 notebooks full of lube recipes.......NONE OF THEM GAVE ME LEADING......some were alot more accurate than others however.

I find lube is dependant on humidity and temperature in many places. Recluse 45/45/10 works great on some handgun loads, espicially tl molds. I used mainly FWFL but bought some of 357 Maximum's leftover lube mix a few years back and have not yet run out of it. It works well.

Well, here's my deal. I have one Star luber and that's it. Right now, the lube of choice is LBT Blue Soft. Works great. In the past I have used Javelina (also great) and BAC, great too. So, I can't say any lube has been a problem. I've actually been pleased with them all. I have some CR that I intend to heat up one of these days also. And then, I have all the makins for the FWFL. enjoy Mike

Three: LBT "Blue" for anything going fast or high pressure, Lee Liquid Alox, for high-volume target pistol reloads like .38 special, .45ACP, or .45 Colt, and 50/50 Bee's wax/Lard for black powder cartridge grease-groove bullets, cap & ball revolver, and minie-ball/maxi-ball conicals.

I use carnuba red for all. In AZ it gets hot c-red stays put and doesn't get sticky like others. In summer months a 60w light bulb is all the heat thats needed to get it flowing. Colder months a blow dier to heat up the press then the light bulb real close.
Works for me.

I pan-lube with Felix's for my .40 to be used in Steel Challenge, but if I can't get enough boolits done fast enough, I go to my Lube-o-matic which if filled with BAC. I bought 30 sticks a while back, and order 30 more when I get down to 5 sticks in the cupboard. Usually the BAC is used in magnum pistols in the lower velocities.
In the magnum-velocity pistol boolits, I use my heated Lyman 4500 filled with Red Rooster (I've still got 20 sticks)
When I have to reorder, I'll buy Blue Angel.
Have fun,

Since cleaning out the LAM is such a pain, I have been using FWFL for a few years. However, I recently bought a 450 for $7.50 at an auction (Don't you just love it when nobody else knows what it is?) I am planning on trying Ben's Red.

I also use Emmerts for BP. Guess I better get the parts needed for the second 450.

I use White Label 50/50 and their X-lox. Both work pretty well for what I load for. I started using the White Label after Javalina, which I used for years, disappeared from the market. After acquiring a Ranchdog mold (tumble-lube version) I found that life would be easier if I used liquid alox in some form for the tumble lube boolits. I tried some of the Lee stuff, but found that the White Label version was not only cheaper, but better.

Powder coating for EVERYTHING. No leading, no smoke from grease, easy to do, very cost-effective. Works on EVERY cal.

No expensive lubra-matic or special "top punches" required either.

Left grease, ATF, beeswax, & Alox back in the smoke & dust well over a year ago and have never looked back.

I use Darrs tweeked w/less vasoline and more STP in all the pistol and rifle for smokeless. I have used Bore Butter for BP but I'm in process to find animal base lube for cased BP that can be used in the C&B and ML as well. Olive/Bee isn't looking bad,but buggy boar is promising too.(bees wax and assorted meat fat tending toward pork for meaness).

1. Alox or 45-45-10 for Tumble Lube. (mostly 45-45-10 now though)
2. Lyman Orange Magic, BAC or Carnuba Red in the lube sizer.
3. Alternative coatings: like epoxy paint, moly/graphite coatings, or powder coat.

So three I guess, but if you break it down by components it's a few more.

1st I normally use 3 different lubes. I run Liquid Alox mixed with JPW for all my tumble lube boolits or sometimes I hand dip boolits into it.
2nd I run pure beeswax mixed with olive or peanut oil for muzzle stuffers and the like.
3rd I use some of white label lubes 2500+ as I got a bunch from them not long ago to play with. Those are the 3 I normally use but I on ocassion will mix them in different amounts to get a harder or softer lube if I need such lubes. I have used White Label carnauba red and x lox too and like those as well but don't have any right now.

I said three but I guess it's closer to five. LLA for most stuff, SPG for BP in one 4500 and 50/50 for high speed stuff in the other. When the 50/50 runs out I'll change over to BAC. If frontstuffers count I use Wonder Lube for round balls.

Elkins45

I said four: my 4500 has Felix w/extra carnauba, my 45 has Fryxell's MolyGraph and my LAM has 357Maximum's 666+1. Add tumble lube and that makes four.

How many lubes do I have? More than four I can tell you, but some of them were made years ago and still haven't been tested.

Ben's works great in my rifle but seems too slippery in revolvers, breaks case tension too early so am thinking about some lanolin in it.
Felix works in both, so does Satan's and MML.
I don't like orange Magic or LBT hard Blue, soft is better.
CR is a good lube, little hard though.
LLA gets tossed or given away.
SPG does not work good, home made better for BPCR. Best for patches is Young Country. Wonder Lube, etc, dries into powder. if you hunt in cold weather and have a tube of Wonder Lube you need to drive the truck on the tube to lube a patch. You can shoot 200 or more shots a day with Young Country without wiping the bore or losing accuracy. Any balls get sticky, add more Young Country to the next patch.

In reading the posts, I noticed that some include lube for patches. While not a patch, I use a lube for felt wads in my Old Army. So far I have been able to avoid messy over ball lube. This is a homemade lube I found on another board. Consists of 40/40/20 mutton tallow, canning paraffin and beeswax
