Bought this mold from a forum member a few short days ago, it arrived in todays mail. 4 cavity H&G #50. After a good cleaning I preheated it and began a short casting session just to see the quality of casts and weight and O.D. size. Out of 50% WW and 50% range scrap I'm getting 150gr boolits that measure .359 to .3595! All of my H&G's are superlative quality molds, this new #50 is no exception.

There's over 200 there in under an hour of casting. This should keep my K frames well fed for a while.

Hey, good score. I once had a 6 cav H & G #50 and it cast superbly.
The onlt drawback is that after a few years, your arms looke like Popeye's./beagle

Timely thread. I just picked up a ten cavity #50 today and am looking forward to seeing how the bullets turn out.

I don't doubt that. This thing weighs a ton.
Nice bullets, Trey. I hope mine drops good ones too.

A 10 cavity! Holy Moly, 4 cav is heavy, 10 cav is going to be brutal. If it's like any other H&G you're going to be very pleased with the casting results. Congrats on your new mold!

I just love the H&G four cavity molds They are indeed the easiest to handle of the gang molds . When I was casting for a club using all their stuff I made a casting box that supported the mold . That took away most of the heavy lifting privided I used a ladle for filling the mold . When I got another man involved in helping . We were able to keep four six cavity molds very busy and weren't all that tired at the end of the day .
I bet a casting box made for the ten cavity would keep your arms from stretching to much .

I really need to break out my virgin 4-cavity H&G 50. Naaaa. I got too many other bullets to cast first....

One of my favorite molds--I bought mine some years back for 40.00 bucks used at a gun show. It produces good boolits fast, with a minimal amount of rejects, and I do mean minimal. What impressed me the most was that you could weigh 10 boolits from one cavity, then weigh 10 boolits taken from the pile, and they'd average virtually the same +- .1 grains as often as not. My only complaint is with the screw heads that stick out the base.
