Janet and I did some grocery shoppin' this afternoon. On the list were several cans of food for the cats. We got everything in the kitchen, put up the refrigerated stuff and left the rest in the bags on the floor 'till after supper. Janet started the pizza and I fed the cats and the dogs. We had a good supper, Janet went back to her office and I came back to the gunroom.

About a half hour later, Janet comes in the gunroom and says "I want you to see what YOUR dog did." That had a bad sound to it right off the rip. She handed me a cat food can. No, not a can of cat food, a cat food can. Dolly had snuck in the kitchen which she KNOWS is off limits, found the cat food in a bag on the floor, stole one and took it back to 'her' sofa.

No opposing thumbs? No problem! She CHEWED the can open! How she did that without lacerating her gums is beyond me. Actually, I thought it was a pretty dang slick trick!

That's Daddy's girl!

Simple, she's pretty crafty and likes cat food. Just try to keep a mule tied up if he don't wanna be. JW

she's been watching you do it long enough.
it's amazing what a dog can smell ain't it.
hailey learned how to open the cabinet door under the island, and the drawer [with no pulls] that we kept her treats in, by the time she was 6 months old.
we have to make sure there isn't a hand towell on the fridge door or she will open it and help herself.
stupid dogs are pretty smart when they wanna be.

Anytime the wife says, guess what "Your" dog, cat, horse, child did, it usually ain't good.

Three cheers:

hurray Dolly!
Hurray Dolly!
H U R R A Y --- D O L L Y!

Way to go girl. You let 'em know who's boss.

I love it when a dog outsmarts her owner.
( Even when I am the owner. )

How does she do on the "childproof" containers? At this time of my life, I can use some help with them.

Some cat food is actually very bad for dogs. Something about the Kidneys/Liver.

Our vet warned us about cat food, never feed it to the dog!

I'd be more worried about her learning how to pull a trigger.

I'd be more worried about her learning how to pull a trigger.

THAT, my friend, is a viable concern! Especially in this house!

Yea right "child proof" more like adult proof, a child can get anything open if he is not suppose to.

Do y'all have Dolly on an iron supplement? Might be helpful to start her on one.

we came home tonight - found the remains of a box of Jiffy Cornbread mix and a box of hot chocolate packets. these she snarfed off the counter. I am going to buy a nanny-cam and set it up next time we leave the house. of course the other dogs plead ignorance but sure enjoyed the chocolate powder residue on the carpet. I am going to find the Pepto and dose everyone tonight.

I got a concrete alibi. I was out with Janet. Ain't no way the jury's gonna convict me when I was with the judge and DA all night.

This is our grocery thief who we affectionately call Lord Remington. When he wandered into our daughters 2 years ago you could count every rib and vertebrae and he had ear infections so bad that the ends of his ears were a mass of scabs from scratching and shaking his head. He weighed 86 pounds then and is up to 106 in this picture. We found out where he came from and the the neighbors talked about how he was neglected and starved. Adult Great Danes like this are supposed to average about 150 pounds. His back is even with the kitchen table and he can stand flat footed and put his chin on the kitchen counter. He's fine if we let you in the house, otherwise he is very protective of the place and absolutely will not tolerate any stray animals around the place.

The down side is that he thinks he's a lap dog.
