I'm looking to get another lever action and have a question about feeding if I use the RCBS 44-250-K.
Has anyone used this bullet in the Model 94 Winchester?
I'm kinda partial to those rifles but not above getting a Marlin

I have not owned the Winchester 94 in 44mag but I have owned a couple in 45lc. Sold them as every once in awhile they would tumble a round under the action locking the thing up. This may only be a problem associated with the 45 not sure. Replaced it with a Henry no problems as of yet. Good luck lever guns are a blast to shoot.

I have a Win. 94 44mag Trapper. I always had an issue with the RCBS 44-250-K bullet wanting to "hang up" while feeding. The Lyman #429421 mold is a little better; as it is slightly shorter in length forward of the crimping groove, but I still had occasional issues with it as well.

I can recommend the RCBS #82041 225GR. SWC GC bullet though; I kind of settled on it for a SWC in the Trapper. Feeds great & has been accurate.

Another two molds to look at that feed well are the Saeco #429 (240GR. plain base round nose flat point) and the #431 (250GR. round nose flat point Gas Check). If your shooting requirements will accommodate these styles, they both feed beautifully.

Good Luck

I bet it won't feed...but you can try.

I tried some semi-wadcutters in my .45 Colt Marlin...and no good...won't feed at all. Had tried some semi-wadcutters in .44 mag in a Rossi M92 right after I got it...you could 'jiggle' the gun around a bit and make them work...but seriously! Didn't feed worth a hoot..

I have the Lee 245 gn. SWC and as already mentioned it needs a little "jiggling" to start the bullet in the chamber. My suggestion would be a round nose or RF around 225 gn.

the 429421 will feed in my win 94 and in my rossi 94.
i had to slightly modify the cartridge stop on the lifter for the longer oal.
the 94 barells are usually on the large side 432-3ish. and have a microgroove like rifling.
so is/does the barrel on my browning 92, it however will not feed anything longer than saami spec 1.610 and i mean 1.611 won't feed.

I had a M94 Trapper also in 44 Mag. Shot lot's of 44-250-KTs in it w/o a single FTF.

The Kieth type bullets don't feed well in my Marlin 1894, so in turn my Vaquero gets a steady diet of RNFP bullets, and FWIW it won't feed 44 Specials at all!??

Both my Winnie Trapper and Marlin 1894 will feed SWC boolits such as 429421 with some judicious adjusting of the cartridge OAL. However, with both guns I find the boolits that feed best are RNFP designs such as the Lee 200, Lee 225(custom),Lyman 427098,Lyman 429667, and Lyman 429640.

Try some of the Ranch Dog boolits. Feed fine.

So I found a little 1894 in 44mag used for the princely sum of $350.00 ( had to talk him down from $380.00 )
Took it all apart last sunday and cleaned it.
Then I de-burred and polished all the moving parts.
Finally I "cleaned up" the end of the chamber a bit with some porting tools I own.
Loaded up 10 dummy rounds using bullets cast with the RCBS 44-250-K mould I own.
Then I worked the lever as fast as I could from the hip and they all slide right in and came right back out like butter.
I think this weekend I'll get to the range and shoot it.
I've been casting alot of bullets in 16-1 for my 44 and my wifes 357.
I have alot of that alloy as I use it with my 45-90 and her 40-65.
I shoot them out of my 629 over 17grains of 2400 with no leading.
I'm thinking I'll lube a bunch with SPG and seat them over however much Swiss 3f will fit in a 44 mag case with about .020 compression and a .030 wad :-)
Wonder how big of a smoke cloud I can get going?
