My new 30-30 Husky arrived yesterday and this morning i cleaned it up and took a few measurements. It has about a 1:16 twist and a .310 groove. One thing i noticed right off was that it has almost no throat. When i chambered the dummy round i had made up for the 170gr boolits i use in my contender i noticed that just in front od the case mouth it was giving me some land marks. the 150grain dummy round chambered without touching the lands. I think some experimenting with diameters and seating depth is in order. I may even try the 115 grain boolits i have for the 32-20 version i have. Here are some pictures of the pair. I would love to complete this set someday by picking up the 25-20 and the 45-70 but that might take some time.

Do they use the same action or is the 30-30 scaled up somewhat?

the rifles are on the same action. the bolt face is differnt and the sights ar a little different but all in all they are very close. I loaded up 50 rounds specifically for this rifle but due to the snow the range is not accessable for the moment. soon as i can get out to shoot it i will follow up with a range report.

I got mine from simpsons ltd. In the case of the 32-20 i actually had to buy two to get one as the bore is always bad on the ones with good stocks and vice versa. the 30-30 was complete and in good shape but fetched a bit more. Right now they have a few in 32-20 but check with them to see if the extractors are present. Missed out on a model 45 in 45-70 a while back. I think the 45-70 might be a bit much for the light rifle but i would love to have the complete set someday.

I know where there is a 45-70 for sale in Sweden.
Contact your FFL and they'll sort the inport/export thing out themselves.

They have been picked over pretty good and there are no real good examples left but its up to you. One of the ones i bought for parts has a pore bore but even though the bolt has some issues it shoots faily well out to 25 yards( I havent shot it at longer distances yet) The one i put together with the good bore is pretty good out to fifty.

The ones lef at Simpsons are:
HUSQVARNA MOD 25; 32-20; 60% blue, poor bore, good stock, 25.5'' barrel, Single shot bolt action. Missing extractor. No parts available., s/n 3xx Z13977 $265.00
HUSQVARNA MOD 25; 32-20; 80% blue, fair bore, fair stock, 25.5'' barrel, Single shot bolt action. Metal has surface rusting overall. Stock grip ahs been crudely altered., s/n 50xx Z13955 $250.00
HUSQVARNA MOD 25; 32-20; 75% blue, fair bore, good stock, 25.5'' barrel, Single shot bolt action. Missing extractor. Bolt handle has been turned down., s/n 55xx Z13985 $265.00
HUSQVARNA MOD 25; 32-20; 75% blue, fair bore, good stock, 25.5'' barrel, Single shot bolt action. Missing extractor. Turned down bolt handle. Stock is hand made and fitted, however has not been completely finished., s/n 7xx Z14299 $295.00

I have an FFL that is also an importer so i will give him a call and see how much he will take me for to handle the transfer. Perhaps he will, time will tell. My guess is that it will cost more than the gun by the time i am done.
To bad Sweden is not within driving distance.

Now here is a project i have been working on for quite some time. Years ago i bought a rifle without a bolt at an auction for about $15.00. I looked everywhere for a bolt. Nothing was even close. When i got my first Husqvarna i saw that the bolt was close.so with one of the bolts that i had from a rifle i baught for the stock i modified the bolt and trigger to get this. It is in 9.5x47r I did everything wit a file and a grinder so it is really a prototype so i can give another bolt body to a gunsmith i know and have him cut it so it is perfect.

I like to call it my half a husky

I gave 480sekr~$74 for an export license, it will be the same for you.

PS. I have a sizing die in 9.5x47R that is yours for the taking?

Nice work. I have got to get my No 35 load development finished as I have a new wallaby property that requires my attention.

Jeff
on my 35 seems the throat is faily short and it won't chamber most of my on hand boolits. So i am concentrating on a light 115grn that i size down from.313 to .310. in the back of the Lymans they have a load for the 115g boolit of 18grs of 4759. As i have it on hand i am going to give it a try, I also have 13 grns of 2400 in mind but i hav not found any published data for that one yet (just several web quotes).
I bet 155grains of PB going at about 1700fps (518mps in metric countries) will rattle a wallabee pretty good!
