Greetings Set trigger hammer !! Thank you everyone with all the great suggestions, ideas, links, info. One sold on the eveil place 12 Dec for near $160.00 Buckingham gets around $300. Must have all the special set parts and special lower tang. main spring is special shaped to work on the left side of the tang. Right side of tang (inner area) is devoted to the set trigger parts.

Is this possibly for a "set trigger model " ? Anyone have access to one ?
Is this an early, early Winchester hammer ? I have looked at numerous detailed schematics and this one I cannot find.
Note the stirrup is on the hammer left side... NOT in the middle as my other 1873 hammers.5681256813

This hammer has all the same dimentions of an 1873 hammer except the stirrup location is on the left side of hammer.
If you know which model Winchester this hammer goes to add your thoughts.. I am baffled. Thanks !!

Possibly a 66,76, or Henry as the later guns didn't have the spur so close to vertical. May be from another brand of rifle too, Whitney, Colt Burgess, or maybe a Colt Lightning slide action. Not sure, a pic of the checkering pattern on top might help.

not a 92 or 94 hammer. the face it wrong. also they were not case colored. it is a 66-73 hammer or a repro. could be a 76 hammer.

Good morning
This is not a 1876, 1892, 1894 as I have physicly viewed those. Not a repro unless a repro that has weathered a good # of years. This hammer shows all the "patina" of my other old Winchester hammers. Same dimention as a 1873 3rd model. Fits in a lower tang 1873. Just has that stirrup on the left.
Still trying to get schematics on the other rifles mentioned above. Did Winchester use a different hammer in the .22 1873 ? Anyone have a 1873 .22 model that you could pull the rear stock and see where the hammer strut is ??? Thanks !!!

Good morning
Anyone have access to a Set Trigger 1873. A feller over at Paco's suggested 'Maybe" the set trigger rifles have a different sear / spring set up. That would explain the frame compatability but not the standard lower tang.
