How do I find out what top punch I need for a give mould?

I'm needing one for a Lee 358-158-RF it is a round nose flat tip.

Blammer, one way is to visit Lymans homepage. Look in the Pistol Moulds, check the list, find the boolit that matches your boolits profile the best and go from there.

Boolit 358665 looks very simular to what you're looking for.

Top punch number: 495

I bought and tried to 429 no go...then bought and tried the 495 still no go finally bought the #43 top punch number 2786691 and it works great!

The profile (meplat) is so big that the first two top punches left rings in the bullet top. The 43 works like it should! I have been meaning to email MidwayUsa to tell them that the top punch they recomend does not work with that mould.

But too late, now I own the 429 and 495 top punches...oh well! maybe I will need them in the future!

A suggestion.
If you have a nose punch that is too big, loose fitting you can use sealing wax. The stuff the King would seal his secret orders to you with. You wife may have gone thru a period where she sealed her letters. Check Hallmark.
Clean out your loose nose punch heat up the wax stick, drip the wax into the cavity press down on your bullet nose.
I've been using the same one I did 20 years ago.

I took a brass 1/4" stove bolt (I think, maybe smaller) that fit the shank hole and cut it off. The flat head of the bolt makes a good pusher for all flat nosed bullets. No ring!
