Can someone tell me in a few phrases, that I`ll understand, exactly what type of firearm is the "Savage Hog Hunter"?Robert

Got mine in 308 just before deer season opened this year. Put a Nikon Buckmasters BDC 3x9-50 on it. Love it!

I'm setting here thinking. I bought a new 10/22 in 78 for 69.99. I make right at 9 times the hourly wage now compared to when I bought that 10/22, which would mean all other things the same a new 10/22 would cost me roughly 630.00 bucks. Or in reverse I would have had to spend somewhere in the neighborhood of 45 bucks for the hog hunter in 78. I know we complain about the price of everything, but when I put it in perspective with my wages, I wonder how they can make them for this price.

But no lefty and I just traded for a lefty savage 116 in 338 win mag, so no interest here. lol

Hmmm.... With all the other cartriges offered being short action rounds, I would have thought they would do the 338 federal. Interesting though!

Perhaps they made it in the short barrel design on purpose, that all shooters aren`t totally deaf and still have facial and arm hairs yet from shooting magnums from short barrels?Robert

358 Win. would make a lot of sense.

358 Win. would make a lot of sense.

I agree.
It is apparent that they did not run a cast boolit poll before offering this gun to the public.
It is odd that they tooled up for the long action and only offered it it the 338 win mag and nothing else.

+1 on the .358 Win. making a lot more sense as a hog rifle. I shake my head in wonder that .358 didn't catch on as a sporting round. Must be more shooters than hunters buying rifles. my .02 anyway, james

That light of rifle in 338WM is gonna knock someone right out from under their hat. JW

That might depend on the size of the hat and just how bow legged the shooter is!:mrgreen:
