Hi guys i am looking for some data for imr 4064 and cast. the boolit i am using is a ideal 311413. i found some data online but i want to be sure of a good starting load.i have the lyman 49th manual it does not list 4064 for any cast. can it be used for cast?

Your desired muzzle velocity? Alloy? Lube? Might be a good idea to tell us the rifle and barrel twist as well.

Although not a favorite powder for cast I'm sure it can be used, there are guys here who have learned how to use many unusual powders due simply to availability. IMR 4064 is a widely used match shooting powder for shooting jacketed bullets so many shooters would have it around and I'd be shocked if no one here has used it for cast.

i am using acww alloy.lubed with nra 50/50 mix. i have 2 30-06 one is a savage and the other is a 760 gamemaster. i have have had good luck with redot using 13.5 grains with the same boolit no leading at all.i am thinking something a little faster than the redot load. i would like to hunt next year with cast.i just had a pound of 4064 dont really want to load j words.i am hook on the cast boolits for all my guns.

OK, with that alloy and lube the normal minimum operating pressure for 4064 and resulting muzzle velocity would lead your barrel in my opinion.

BTW, if you heat treat your WW bullets the hardness goes way up, above linotype. Then with a gas check and a lube like Carnauba Red the 4064 I would think would be fine.

Like I said, I'm sure someone with direct experience will be along with info for you.

Can't find a picture of the boolit you mentioned, but Lyman lists it as 169 GC Pointed style boolit.

Lyman Cast Manual has a 160 grain Loverin style Pointed boolit at:

29.0 1713 fps 14,100 CUP to 46.0 2731 fps 48,300 CUP

Others here with far more experienced boolit slingers may correct me, but the Pointed style may not be best for hunting.

The 311413 is difficult to group well over 1700 fps, IME. There are a few posts on that boolit here. It was developed by an Officer named Squibb so a slow moving load has been called a squib load for quite a while. 4064 would have to be downloaded to push it that slow to a point I would not be comfortable with. I would find a faster powder.
