I was in the local mom & pop gunshop yesterday just chattin' with the owners. UPS showed up with a delivery. I helped Harold open the boxes and inventory the shipment. Two bricks of standard velocity CCIs were in it. I bought one on the spot.

I went to a large sporting goods store in Ashland the other day and they were loaded with .22 ammo. I picked up two more boxes of bulk Blazer ammo for $16.99 each. Now if you were looking for .223 ammo, good luck, I heard they were totally sold out of that and only had 5 AR15 rifles in the whole store, and saw people walking out with some as I was there.

We have only been able to get .22 bricks sporadically. I was able to get a pallet of 9mm FMJ (which was sold out in two hours....) and some bulk CCI 375 round "bricks", oddly enough, but the 500 rd/ brick is pretty much unobtainable out here in the West.

.223 ammo is wiped and we cannot buy any more period. At this point, I sure am glad I have been stocking up on powder, PRIMERS(!) and lead for a while. After '08, I pledged to myself I would NEVER be in the situation I see so many others suffer from lack of foresight and/or preparation.

Good times., and it's gonna get more sparse before it gets better.

Here it never did catch back up for 22's. You had to be at the store when it came in or you wold not get any.

Plenty of .223, and .22 LR at local Wally Worlds, and most other other shops. Never any shortage here in KY for some reason.

Was through the Cabelas near Wheeling WV a couple of weeks ago, before the Newtown incident. Plenty in stock there. Bought a brick of Wolf Match, which I was surprised to even see it there. Normally I have to go by Champion Supply for it. What it's like now I can't say. No need to go that way again until February or March. The panic seems to be over 5.56/223, anyway. Over 90 cents a round for milsurp on Gunbroker this afternoon.

I like your "old coach" avatar.

We used to get SK in gold boxes for $12 a brick in the late 1990's trough the club.It was priced about $2-$3 more a brick than CCI Blazer. Wolf took it over and it's $50 or more.It ticks me off still how much they jumped up the price.it sure shoots good though.

Here in central California I can't find much rimfire ammo. The only place I can find bulk ammo is big 5 sporting goods and they want 27.99 for federal bulk pack.

the walmart's around here are sold out off bricks, they have alot of mini mag's and the smaller 50rd. box stuff. two week's ago they had plenty of the tula .223 ammo, now there's nothing. of course deer season is still open too, so that don't help it either. i went to a local mom n pop gun/pawnshop that always has a good selection of everything, he said he sold out of Ar and Ak mag's in one day, and he only a few boxes of .223 left. i've mainly been buying buckshot and birdshot for the 12g. i don't reload for that, but plan on buying the stuff to get started.

I was in 2 Wal-Marts today in two different towns. At both locations the story was the same. Out of bulk pack 22RF both Federal and remington. They both had a few CCI 100 round plastic boxes.
Sporting good mangers in both store said that their warehouse is out and they don't expect any in till sometime in March.

Was in Bass Pro in Springfield MO yesterday and all they had was Winchester 500 round bricks in wooden boxes for 25.00 dollars.................Terry

This is the only bulk 22LR I could find online. I ordered 10 boxes and consider it taking a chance based on the mixed reviews. At the very least my 5-year-old can enjoy it while I shoot my stash on Federal and Blazer bulk rounds.

Just came from the WW in Tappahannock VA. NO bulk .22lr and no 50 packs, only a few 100 packs of CCI. 3 packs of 22WMR. NO .223 and only a very few of any of the pistol ammo, mostly .45acp about 10 boxes of the high $ stuff, 3 boxes of 40 and 1 each of 38 and 357. Shotgun plenty, rifle mostly 30-06 and 7mm mag and some 30-30 not much else. So yes, the rimfire were mostly gone! They probably bee cleaned out by tomorrow night cept for shotgun and 30-06. Business is good! 10 ga

that's cause it is going to be the new currency , haven't you heard , when the paper is worthless prices will be in rounds of 22lr

3 for a rabbit, 2 for a tree rat , 5 for a whistle pig 7-10 for a coon depending on size

people are rushing to exchange their worthless paper for the future currency , gold was looking good but they realized no one was going to have change for a golden eagle , so unless you were buying a car or a truck load of canned goods you needed smaller denominations

Here in S.E. TX, we have WalMart, Gander Mtn and Academy which sell the bricks. They have been out, basically, since Nov. What a coincidence. Luckily, I have a stock. Would like more, but will just have to be patient. I have been told various things about some retail places and their AR/M4 stuff--taken off the shelf, put away, etc. All rumor, as far as I know, but what I am told. I do know that, Saturday, I was at a gun show in Pasadena, Tx (outside Houston) and that it was extremely crowded. The lady I was doing business with said that when she arrived early in the morning, the line to get in was all the way down the sidewalk in front and around to the side. Everything was jacked up in price. Plastic Magpul 30 rd mags that can be bought for under $20 were going for $75. Lots of people walking out with bags of stuff they had purchased.

I am here in NY AND WANTED to know how much 22lr can I buy at one time?? New to the sport after many years of leaving it behind when I was in my 20's..just bought a Marlin 795 and now looking for 10/22 ruger takedown..now see ammo is scarce?? Any ways to buy online any restriction? Thanks if anyone can help me out..

Skiboy, there's generally almost no ammunition to be had, restrictions or not. I've been trying for weeks to get enough Thunderbolts to have 500 rounds to take to an Appleseed shoot, just got a few boxes from a fellow at work and I'm up to 350. Local stores in my part of North Carolina have no .22 LR except shot caps since at least early January, and Internet sellers sell out of whatever they get (in spite of price gouging) within minutes of the stock showing up on the web sites.

All you can really do is find out what day of the week your local sporting goods store gets ammunition shipments, and try to be on their doorstep at opening time on that day each week until you get something. I can't do that (I have to be at work at 8:00, shop opens at 9:00); I might try calling them at 9:01 to see if they'll put back a bulk box or a couple 50s for me to pick up after work...

With the high price of gasoline these days I'm going to have to cut back on trips to the range since I'm retired and interest on our savings is so great. I think the grandson and I are going to switch to BBs into a cardboard box behind the barn. Just use them over and over again and still have plenty of fun.
