We're in the process of packing up the house in the burbs and move out to the country so our horses can stay at home. The packing process is a chore after 16 years, and darling wife after seeing the boxes of bullets molds asked if I really needed that many. Well of course I do was the response. Then the phrase, " I bet no body else has that many molds", so the challenge is on.

I wish!!!! I don't but I am positive that quite a few guys on here can equal if not better that assortment!

Explain to her it's part of your retirement planning, and that as you get older you will of course loose interest in some of the rifles for various reasons and will have quite the stash of molds to sell off here and there!

I don't any longer. After moving back to Montana in 2008 I realized that I had way more molds than I would ever have use for. Nearly all were obsolete and discontinued Ideal and Lyman. I sorted and cataloged, found duplicates, surprise, surprise, and had 108 molds. I started selling off the ones deemed of no use to me. I am now down to fewer than 60. I still shake my head at the wonderment of it all!!!

When I first got married I remember keeping all of my moulds in an old shoe box under the bed in spare bedroom..all 6 or so of them. Money was tight and couldn't really afford any firearms for awhile..so I started to collect the next best thing..bullet moulds!
Few years ago decided to take an inventory..100 plus moulds..and I just bought two more! Mostly original Ideals and early
Lyman..with a scattering of custom Ballard, Barnett, Brooks, Hoch, and Leeth thrown in.

I look at it this way. I can acquire a better rate of return on bullet molds/guns/farm tractors than I can with Bank CD's or the stock market. Don't look at as too many molds , look at it as an investment. How many of the molds would you have to take a loss on to sale?

Hmmm...I don't have the patience to count all the moulds in the picture, but it surely is a fine assemblage.

At this point, my own array runs somewhere north of 100, but I haven't even SEEN my "stuff" since January due to medical problems. I 'm hoping that changes in the very near future.

The miscellany includes representatives from many makers... but we always need MORE, right?

.... and darling wife after seeing the boxes of bullets molds asked if I really needed that many.

Ask the wife if the horses need that many blankets/sheets/flynets or that much tack.

Of course then the fight starts.

Just tell her that those molds keep you from having to buy all those expensive J-word bullets.

i have exactly ONE lee mold.
i for some reason have three different ones for my one remington 700 8x57 mauser. [[3 different lube types for it too]]
so i doubt the answer is, you have too many molds, i think the answer is you just do not have enough guns.
i must not have enough molds, i have 2 more coming shortly.

I'm in Hillsboro till Friday, I can help you "move" some of that.:drinks:

I recall there being a poll thread here "how many moulds do you own" or something like that.

Man, that really sucks. I only have 31 and have several more I want bad but cant afford them right now.
Winter is our slow time in construction and I have to watch my pennies. Actually, we've been slow for 3 years.[smilie=b:

A friend of mine, fellow bass in the church choir, has a military footlocker full of molds! He's older than I and has been was a competitive shooter in the military and since. You can tell your wife that, compared to him, you are a piker!

You are in need of therapy!!! Go sit next to the great silver pond and start the healing process, you'll feel better in a few hours.

PS: If theres any 41 molds, I'll help with the therapy.

The answer to a question like that is ---Gee honey, you are right! Thanks for letting me know I don't have enough guns!!!

asking a man if he has too many bullet molds is like asking a woman if she has too many shoes

Too many molds? Seems like an impossibility unless you are swimming.

More than I need, not as many as I want.

I'm north of 150 and I can name plenty that I could put to use.
They're easy to store and hard to replace.
