Thanks, Jim for taking the time to post all your research. It gives us something to strive for with our own rifles and has inspired me to do some testing on my own H&R single shot in 30-30 (older, tapered barrel with ejector). I am working initially with red dot and the Lyman 3118. It's amazing how accurate these cheap single shots can be.
