Fellas , I'm working on a black rifle that is a flat top and it has a set of flip up sights . It all works well but I'd like to find a mount for a scope . I've seen some that are about the correct height but look like they were hammered out by a monkey on a bad monday morning . I've seen an AR15 set up with an Accuracy speaks rail and Leupold QRW rings and it is the right height so I think a set up like that will work .

So where does a fella find rings and rails for the black rifle ? I checked Brownells and I can find Leupold rings but something to boost them high enough isn't there .

Thanks , Jack

I like this one. It comes with two sets of caps for the rings. railed and regular. http://www.grafs.com/retail/catalog/product/productId/1946

As for a rail, do you want it to be a free float or not?

I put a GG&G one piece on my 300 blk. It's a decent piece for the money. Nikon also makes a decent looking one piece mount but I've never used one. A buddy of mine has the Nikon 2 piece AR rings for his scope and I like them as well.

If you want the best get a Larue Tactical LT 104. They aren't cheap but man are they nice. I've got 3 of them and would buy another without hesitation.

I am so ignorant about black rifles all I can tell about free floating is the barrel . As best I can tell is I need a mount that will attach to a picatinny rail and gives about 1.4" in mount height from the top of the rail . Intended scope is a Leupold six power with one inch tube not going to need rails on the top of the rings .

Here is the shortcut to the AR scope riser from Brownell's. I suggest mounting it as far forward on the FT receiver as you can and use Weaver low tip off rings.
