Those of the 6.5mm variety that is. I moved not long ago, things are still in a state of disarray. But I stumbled onto my #2 buck which is .270" diameter and decided to see what I had.

One type 38 has a .271" groove diameter, one has a .270" groove diameter, and another .268". I also have a type I rifle, and it has a .268" groove diameter.

Luckily I have a NOE 269 163gr FN. It wasn't a group buy item, it was one Swede sold via the Vendor Sponsor Sales page some time ago. The bottom band on it casts .271" but some ever so slight out of roundness makes it smaller at one point. I might have to lap the bands out a touch in order to use them in all my rifles. It has 3 bands, .271" at the bottom, .2695" middle, .268" top. The nose mics, .2645" just above the cleaning groove and tapers to .257" at the ogive. It is 1.197" long. Good fit in the Type 38s throat at an OAL of 2.859" with the check just at the neck/shoulder junction. I'll attach some pics of the bullet and mold. I don't know if they'll run a group buy of the bullet or not.

Small wonder we get fellows with type 38s wondering why their Lyman bullets won't shoot well out of their rifles. I'd guess that shooting .264" and sometimes smaller bullets (some Japanese ammo has bullets as small as .261") through them might be the reason I had such a hard time cleaning the carbon fouling out of them. I think it was ironed in, so to speak.

It would work good for a 6.5 Carcano. I would be in for one, if Al will make it.
