I am looking for a good place to start.
Both will be loaded with 150gr cast WW boolits that are powder coated.
H4895 is the only rifle powder I have on hand right now. I could not find a cast 150gr load on there site, so I am asking here.
The 30-30 is a Win lever of about early 1980's vintage if that matters.
The 308 is a Mossberg night train

Any help you all can give me on a starting load would be much appreciated.

thanks

Unfortunately you may find H4895 to be a little slow for best performance accuracy wise in either the .308W or the 30-30. I have not had consistent results in either cartridge with that powder. The problem being by the time you get the psi up (even with a dacron filler) to where the powder is burning consistently the velocity is generally too high for best accuracy. I prefer 4759 in both cartridges with a 150 gr cast bullet.

However, what you got is what you got. Start at 26 gr H4895 in the .308W and 24 gr in the 30-30. Use a dacron filler in both. work up in 1/2 gr increments until accuracy really goes south.
