Who knew beeswax was a hard to find commodity.
I looked around and found a 2 oz. package at Ace for $4 bucks, checked the Hobby Lobby nope, checked the net and found a candle co. right down the street from my job, score.
Missouri Candle and Wax Company had 100% pure for $13 bucks a pound in both yellow and bleached, so I bought both types, the lady at the counter assured me the only differance was the color.
Is $13 bucks a pound a good price for beeswax? and is it cheaper if you buy it from a beekeeper?
ps, and why is it beeswax & beekeeper and not bees wax & bee keeper, lol.

Check with our vendor/sponsor Randyrat. Last I bought from him with quantity discount was $5/lb shipped, and it's GOOD stuff for making boolit lube.

$13 per lb is WAY to expensive.
Randy rat has some for sale much cheaper. Yes if you head out to the local tailgate market/farmers market, you can probably find a beekeeper that will sell you some wax for cheaper. Just have to ask.
I am a beekeeper and most beekeepers around my area sell it for 3 or so dollars a pound.

I'll second that, there's usually at least one beekeeper at the local Farmer's Market (in season), I don't use it in lube (at least not yet) but beeswax is handy for so many things, I try to keep some around.

Cheapest I have found on eBay is $6/lb+5.15 for shipping 3 lbs. Randyrate beats that by quite a bit.

My local beekeepers have some sort of consorting going on..... they are pretty much all priced at $8/clean pound ($6 raw) or really close to that. And they live right around me.... but I can buy online (from Randy or sometimes other guys on here) for less, shipped! Go figure. And while you're at it... save some shipping and order some TAC#1 from Randy too..... you'll love it. :-)
