Good morning all! Has anyone on this wonderful forum ever had the opportunity to use a Lyman 48 rear on their Lee-Enfield rifle? I have an old No.1MkIII* that I am restoring this winter and wanted to fit something perhaps a little more accurate than the barrel mounted sight. I saw an old Lyman catalogue and it listed a 48 as being made to fit the Lee-Enfield, but have never seen one or heard of anyone having used one.

Thanks much and Merry Christmas to All!..................................

I have an #4 Mk1 Lee-Enfield that has a Williams 5D peep sight. There was some metal milling done to remove the flip rear sight and other metal. Definately made a big difference in the ability of this old war horse to shoot where you were aiming. Of course this was done back in the early `60`s when this was a normal thing to do.Robert

YEP!!
I've a Lyman on my #1MkIII. It's the only way to fly. "specially if your OLD eyes can't see the issue sights.
I had to go to a sight collector to get mine.

I have a very similar Lyman on my Mauser and it really does make things better for me. Love the peep sights. I put a williams front ramp with a gold bead on too, nice combination.

Thanks so much for all the great replies! I know all about "old" eyes, mine will be 67 next June. If it is at all possible, would someone be able to post a foto of one of the 48's made for and fitted to your Lee-Enfield? Thanks a heep, your a great bunch of guys...............................

Google Gary Fellers he should have what you want. Is a collector and seller of iron sights. Pretty sure he has a web page with what he has to sell. Frank
